You could say that about most players couldn’t you? Most would walk off the field thinking they could have done better.
The frustrating thing with Dan was that he was so good when he was switched on. He has all the tools to be a fantastic player but only produced 1 game out of 4 if you were lucky. His effort at the ball was sometime pathetic & then sometimes it was epic. That's not about performance, that's about application and desire to play at his best which he was unpredictable with.
I dont think other players had the same (lack of) application to the game each week that Dan had & I hope a change of club helps him with a more consistent effort week to week.

Can someone confirm if we gave up our own future 2nd or if we on traded the GWS one? Seeing conflicting reports.

Trading out pick 25 for points. 25 is worth 756 points.
Saints = 28, 32 (1261) +500 points
Cats = 38,48,55 (974) +200 points
Eagles = 26, 40 (1158) +402 points
Port = 33,43 (941) +185 points
Dogs = 30,39 (1075) +319 points

Few examples where points can be gained. Probably able to get in as 3rd party on another trade to get more.

Eagles 26 and 40 possibly

Mitch Cleary suggested on 7 news in Melbourne tonight that Mathieson is seeking greater opportunity elsewhere - could generate more points.

I'll buy a jersey with his number on it from the new club. Will continue to specifically cheer for him (even against us) and be impressed by his contested clearances.

I'd been saying that for 2 years but everyone else seemed to disagree. Didn't chase ,didn't tackle at least half the time.

But looked good when he was on song . Which was 4-5 games/year.

Can understand if Mathieson wants out shame though was a really good player
Really good player is a bit of a stretch. Can't deny his heart and character but I can't see too many teams that would be lining up for him.

Maybe norf or the eagles would be interested in getting someone who has a bit of mongrel about them. That being said, I wouldn't want him to leave.

If anyone is going for him then it's at least two top 10 draft picks at a minimum + all their cap space allocated to us except for the matho contract of 1mil a year for 4 years. We'll throw in a future fourth and a big mac as a sweetener

Could look at upgrading our pick 36 to the dogs pick 30 in the Dunkley trade. Given that we own 3 picks between those (all likely to be used matching), that would represent a 3 pick downgrade from the Dogs and 127 extra points for us.

Lots of viable options for us still.

I'd say he's a solid player & I disagree that other teams wouldn't be interested.

Let's see.

I rate him as a brilliant clubman, decent clearance player, hard nosed & will always give 100% no matter the circumstances.

I'd be sorry to lose him but hard to see him getting a game next year particularly if Lyons throws off his injury woes.

Who's midfield is he breaking into though?

His willingness to engage in the contest would make him a valuable asset for a club that desperately needs a physical presence in its midfield. IMO the only clubs that fit that bill are North, West Coast and maybe St Kilda. Besides that, he'd be depth in every other team.
