Also, when did Sam Power earn his demigod status for his work at the Bulldogs?

He's brought in Treloar who Collingwood couldn't have tried harder to get rid of, Keath, Bruce, Hannan, Martin, and some pick swaps for points for very highly rated F/S and academy players, including once in a year where the AFL relaxed the list spots and points rule.

Am I missing something?

Nope that about sums it up. He did a decent job with the pick swaps but as we've shown this year so far it's pretty easy to manufacture a tonne of points out of thin air

HAd a look at the Dogs board - what a laugh particulalry one poster who has a pick of Dunkley in a North jumper in his avatar

What I dont understand is that 1. Dockers should accept pick 30 for Lobb ignoring all reasons they are banging on about with Dunkley and 2 They'd rather him go to the PSD for nothing as opposed to pick 21 and F1 - that is just idiotic and cutting your nose off to spite your face. Morons.

Ahhh reading that thread is a real trip down memory lane. About the same as ours back in the dark days. Lots of vitriol, outlandish statements from people who clearly would run a football club into the ground if it was their job and a smattering of level heads. Ahhh the memories
Almost fell off my chair when one poster mentioned us as a powerful club who shirks the rules of equalisation through trade and free agency.

Wa?

How about maggotman from Sunbury??? 😁. Also, does anyone else feel really old when the year 2024 gets mentioned in draft discussions? Wow. That will be 21 years since the 2003 premiership.... 😳
And 1 year since the 2023 Premiership.

Most are saying we’ll need to package 30 and 39 for a pick in the 20s for Lobb.

It’s unlikely we’d accept 21 when you have future 2nds (late ones) that don’t impact your need for points that you can package up with 21 to get back in the 1st round. The trade would be pretty simple after that.

Probably not the right spot for this, but further to the Danny Daly interview on Trade Radio the other day, just saw this announcement from East Keilor FC about Lockie Rayner joining our VFL team.

Reading the comments Lockie Rayner is a very popular lad... welcome to the Lions Den Lockie.

Height: 197 cm
Weight: TBC
DOB: 03/10/1997
Position: Half Forward/Ruck

I would think he will be playing as a tall forward with us using Kalin Lane and Henry Smith as the ruck options.

Here is a little more on in from the ROAR sporting website.

Lockie Rayner: East Keilor
The brother of Cameron Rayner is a jet and has been hugely influential for East Keilor, he is a lot taller than Cameron and mostly plays as a ruckman and half-forward. Boy, he is a quality player. I have seen him in the flesh and his ruck craft is great to watch plus his marking skills are great. You can go here to see more of the action this player can produce, but keep an eye on Brandon Coletta as well.

Five local footy players that an AFL club would love to have right now

How well ? still hasn’t landed his prime target !
the way I see it he has very little collateral left for a player of Dunkley’s quality.
You guys should be pissed if he misses out on him by not offering reasonable market value.
But who really loses? Answer: bulldogs because you will get squat didily nothing for your reigning best and fairest winner. Your in such a strong bargaining position!

Name a team in the first round who will make that deal?

Who is a realistic trade partner to package 30 and 39 up to a pick in the 20s. Just note the deals both Geelong and Melbourne paid for picks 25 and 27.

Trading for points is relatively easy when trading down, trade up can be costly point wise. I’m unsure outside of us and potentially Essendon who will be chasing points

Essendon was the one I was thinking given 22 likely gets taken by Davey. They probably hold it til draft night though.

Eagles the other with 24, they might be willing to drop a few spots back to 30 if it means bringing in another pick.

Was more making the point that while 30 is probably his value, most acknowledge we’ll need to give more.

Doogies need to trade with Freo and we know what that is like, particularly as Lobb is contracted. They will need to get our deal done sooner rather than later if any picks involved will be used for Lobb. If they don't agree Monday I would be tempted to split 21 for future picks next year. Suns will be looking for points

Yes...the deal of deals.....SCHACHE!

They're going through the SOS syndrome. Power got Pies bent over at their worst cap situation and got Treloar as well as the points for Jamarra and Sam. He is being rated with that as the benchmark. It'll wear off.

GWS maybe?
The same GWS that we traded pick 15 for that pick 21 and their future second (will be more viewed more valuable than ours or Geelong) Seems a little counter productive but never know. With their hoard of picks it appears they’ll look to move up the draft (3 + 12 for 1 already been speculated) Then maybe try and move 15,18,19 up for another higher pick or future first.

I actually can’t think of a trade where GWS went backward in the draft order, they’ve always ponied up and move up the draft board to get the players they want, even if they’re not rated that highly.

Again look at the two examples, 30 + 39 fall way short of the comparison that Geelong and Melbourne paid. Essendon will field way better offers than that.

By all accounts it appears to be a draft lacking depth, as witnessed by the bulk trading we have done. I just can’t see many clubs wanting to move back anymore unless they are seriously rewarded.

If you think Brisbane is hard to deal with, wait til you deal with Fremantle/Bell with a contracted player…. They will firmly have their sights on this trade and what you gain from us.

25 would have been an ideal target for you in a separate trade, may have missed an opportunity there.
So much to unfold it’s hard to predict.

Bolded bit is a good point. If no club offers anything to move up for Giants, they may be open to moving it to next year for our future first.

Like 15 + 18 for a future first and one of the future seconds may be. They may get some crazy offer for 19, being the first pick of second night - so there'll be interest to hang on to it.

Dogs can have their 2 firsts for Dunkley + 39 and a victory lap too lol.

Certainly hard to predict. I feel like there is more flexibility now that you guys have been able to turn 15 into a heap of points, so now you have enough points to cover bids even if you trade out 21 (stand corrected on that).

That’s where the negotiations are most likely at now, F1 and 21 with us wanting more to get 21 closer to what we initially asked for and both walk away happy.

21, F1 and maybe a sweetener - like upgrading your future 4th for the cats or GWS second rounder should get it done too, if we can’t upgrade 21.

You guys won’t send him to the PSD for nothing, chances are no other team will take him and he falls to us anyway, no one wants him against his will. That would just be so embarrassing and demoralising for you guys.

Hell end up a Lion what ever way you look at it, worst case we wait 12 months and get him for free.

The PSD move teaches no one anything the Dogs know this - it would be a decision made out of anger. We won’t care and it won’t help future negotiations - it sends a really poor cultural message to the players still on the list.

It’ll get done for either your suggestion or something close to what I proposed above.
