The more I think about it the more I am at a loss as to why the Dogs feel so hard done by and aggrieved to the extent they are - all for a player that wanted out 2 years, is uncontracted and wants out again. If this finals series did anything for me, it gave me the final nail in the coffin that is any Fox produced footy show that isn't the actual sport itself. The Vic bias is embarassingly amateur and frankly a waste of time. Constantly shitting on Brisbane and chalking up each win as a 'lucky' one and then piling on in a huge way when we lost to Geelong. Ain't that Murdoch media in a nutshell, Supreme bias to one side only.

When a bid for Ashcroft comes in (pick 1) don’t all of those five picks go to the back of the draft?

So if there is 70 picks taken to the draft by all clubs and a bid comes at pick 1 for Ashcroft then all of those 5 picks in the 30’s for us, drop back to picks 65-69.
So by the time the pick for Fletcher comes in at let’s say (pick 20) all of those picks of ours will be down to roughly picks 45-50 which will average out at around 300 points per pick. Which gives us plenty of points to match a bid for Fletcher without trading back in.
So the pick 39 is pretty valuable to us to ensure that we have enough points to match Ashcroft and then Fletcher will take care of itself.

First pick goes up to where the bid was made, the other 4 slide to the end of the draft.

Those picks at the end of the draft, can only move up as other clubs use multiple picks to match bids as well. Or if clubs start passing on their late picks.

In the event that Fletcher is the second player bid on, those picks won’t have moved at all.

It’s my assumption that those picks, when they move to the back of the draft, gain the points value of the new picks.

However, with how the club is behaving, trying to get as many points as possible, there’s a fair chance I’m way off base here and will look like an ass.
