I think Logue has to be priority one. I would love for us to get ruthless and push him into the PSD, but I highly doubt it happens. Having McKay, Logue, Corr and Dawson really shores up our key defensive stocks.

Then try to prioritise a key forward and elite ball users with our draft picks.

In an ideal world we somehow get a combination of Wardlaw/Sheezel/Tsatas and Cadman/Keeler/Scully/Lemmy. Then I’ll have huge faith in the direction of the rebuild.
Make it happen clarko

Anyone know whats the story with Ely Smith at Brisbane ? 1st rd draft pick in 2018 and hasn't played a game yet
They had big wraps on him early days, but not sure whether injuries has hindered his development?

Few of there high draft picks of recent years are struggling to get a look in, Devon Robertson is another.

How closely did you watch todays game? Charlie is severely lacking size and strength as an afl standard key position player. Today he was pushed off the ball and blocked to even run at the footy by seasoned players. He is in need of a huge preseason.

He would struggle to hold down a kpd role at afl level.
Yep. Sadly it seems like we've gotta treat him as a first year recruit again in terms of fitness and capabilities. Bring in mature talent to help larkey or draft a fantastic key forward this year and Comben won't be getting senior games in 2023.

With the efforts our backline displayed today there's a lot more needed than just 1 extra players. I reckon 2-4 at a minimum. Way too many stragglers just happy to get a paycheck.

Big bodied midfielder who had his first year (2021) ruined by a number of different injuries. Has been consistent this year in the VFL, but Brisbane have a lot of depth in their inside midfielder stocks. He is currently stuck behind; Neale, Lyons, Berry, Mathieson and D. Robertson. While I like him as a player he isn’t really what we need.

Why do you say that? He's been effectively demoted on field over the past season. His averages are down against recent years. McInerney et al are cutting his lunch. Also, he's from Victoria. Would've thought he was one of the most getable ones.

Re the broader discussion... Since we get to dream big this week, my current wishlist is:

Logue
Gunston
Acres
W Rioli
Lloyd

That's a good list fills most of of needs and impact be immediate... 2 fas just need to trade for 3 and prob need low firsts early seconds for Logue and Rioli and prob mid 2nd for acres how we going to do that.... prob need to involve our first going to Freo in exchange for theirs and two players? And we get theirs back which would be around 13-15 prob to high to have cadman still around... or would it be used for Rioli

Rankine to Adelaide for pick 5 and mabie a second back Adelaide's way, if by some miracle we end up with 1+2 trade 2 to gold coast for 5 and 7. Go to the draft with 1 5 and 7. Profit.

We are meant to be chasing mature players.... wouldn't have thought have anywhere near those types of picks on the table

Well if the 6000 pts of draft capital that we’re asking for in the form of PPs comes through, we’ll be stocked for trade currency.

Even 3000 would be more than enough to get Logue and Acres done.

If we divvy up approx 3000 pts this year, than give equivalent of picks 8 and 30 to Freo as a package deal, leaving equivalent of about pick 20 to WC.

Agree and problem is most are contracted too.... young had a ok year but still not sure up to afl std, bonar tries hard but again... Perez is building and had some effective passes won't be too harsh on him as first year after big injuries. Dawson is ok but still out marked by sexton on numerous occasion despite prob having 10cm on him. Corr worked hard all day but will be better as a third tall and buckets towelled up Levi. Lmac was ok. We missed hall as no one else has that run from the back. So we need that type of player then another quality distributor plus 2nd tall so I'd say need 2 or 3 back there to add to buckets lmac and corr. And potentially Perez and or Dawson. Rest aren't up to it

The only four defensive locks are McKay, L Mac, Young and Perez. The rest are up for debate.

I agree we will be ok if get pp esp 6k of them that's double what we have currently. Can't see that much coming and has Clarko coming meant that the afl think we no longer need any help? Hood has already said we have a great list and now we have a multi premiership coach so will the afl say you should be right? If we don't get pp, we have what 3.4K which would only be enough for Logue and griffen and some change

As mentioned im not sure yet about young and Perez and tbh lmac wouldn't get into a lot of other teams... corr while not yet reaching same levels has still proved he can be a player but needs help back there.... he doesn't play tihht enough to be a number 2, will see a much better corr when he is 3

Not sure where my reply went but basically it said I'd be happy with a pp esp at that level but can't see it. The afl may even turn around and say Hood says you have a great list now you have a multi premiership coach so don't need any further help. Then we will have to use our what 3.4K on Logue and acres leaving us with spare change for the draft... only other options would be to grab a couple of the fas or use some futures. Hope I'm wrong

drafting ready made forwards who come in and play the role in the first season is incredibility rare and doesn't even then suggest they will go on with good careers, iam thinking john butcher was one who went well in first season but then fell of a cliff, Fogarty another who looked the goods early but then lapsed and is only really now hitting his straps, then there was the hype surrounding logan mcdonald who the jury is still out on. JUH just coming good is another example and the Kings havnt really ( granted injurie and wayward kicking) dominated yet.

reckon a Casbould type would be perfect for a short term spot.

Amartey/Mclean...

And I would bet money that Comben plays quite a few senior games next year.

I’m hoping we take a dashing/distributing defender in the draft. Someone like Lachie Cowan or Jonti Schuback.
I reckon this is the last thing we need, with Goater, Bergman and Perez all on the list. Key position players are what we need. Comben and Edwards are years away, and we have no key forward other than Larkey.
Perhaps trade for GWS' Riccardi?

Legitimate small forward.

We’ve avoided them for decades.

Perez is ooc though so might not be on the list
