Pick one gives you the ability to get the BEST player in that draft so it’s value is more than just a combined points value.
Points are only good if you are matching a bid for a F/S or academy players if you have access to any.
Us trading our pick 1 for 6 and 8 would mean we miss a shot at the top 5 players and end up having to take slops from the remainder and the actual target of your pick is most likely gone.

“Slops” might be a bit extreme.

Horne-Francis just said that Clarko mentioned a change of positions, for next year. Are we thinking HBF??
Can’t think of anything other than a HB role. With that, to make some room back there, I think Lmac should be moved into the midfield to give it a defensive edge and allow LDU, Thomas and co to do their thing. I think we need to get away from Jed and Greenwood getting too much midfield time.

He's never said he wants to leave for the record and his manager said he will play out his contract. He looked pretty excited when he met Clarko, I think the kid just wants some proper direction.

I remember watching that and I'm sure he said to Clarko, I'm Jason.... and I thought to myself what Clarko must have been thinking at the time, something along the lines of, as if I don't know who you are!

lol we literally break down at half forward more than anywhere else on the field and cant keep the ball in the forward 50, and some are saying we don't need anyone who can improve that.
We break down because our forward anchors are instructed to stand at CHB and all our ball carriers see are the backs of their teammates.

I like LMac to middle/wing but he needs to shed some kilos and kill it over the preseason.

We've just taken Goater and Bergman in the 2nd round last year. I'm not sure I'd be drafting another flanker. Particularly Perez starting to accumulate the pill. All in on KPs this year
I'd still rather a couple of genuinely elite ball users from there who are also athletic - Lachie Ash types - if we can get it.

There's also a chance that those two could be wingers, which is another area of concern - we need more guys who reliably can kick a footy

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't McDonald do some pretty good tagging jobs, a few years back? I'm not saying he needs to tag again, but he's more than capable to defend and win the ball, around the ground.

Horne-Francis as our Luke Hodge would be quite nice. Midfield for the big moments though I would like. Potentially could mean we target another midfielder…

The Hornet couldn’t keep the smile away when talking about Clarko and his vision, I think the lad is hooked at the moment.

Could also open up more room in other areas for a player to slot into JHF’s current role.

Or maybe midfield! Let's be honest he didn't get used much in there this year... mainly hff and came in when one of mains needed rest

Clarko said he doesn't want him to be burnt out, by 30 years of age. I'd say HBF or as Passmore said, Wing. I'd love him to take the kickouts, and get the 1-2, steaming out of the backline.

Fremantle Dockers winger Blake Acres linked to a Victorian move after break-out season

Fremantle’s pursuit of Luke Jackson could mean break-out winger Blake Acres looks elsewhere, yet to extend with the club past what has been his best season yet.

Acres joined the Dockers three seasons ago as part of the trade which sent Brad Hill to St Kilda, but could reportedly start hunting for a third club because the deal on the table from Fremantle hasn’t met his demands.

That could bring into play Carlton, who will be in the market for some outside speed as they rebound from a miserable end to the year, and North Melbourne.

Rory Lobb is widely tipped to be heading east to join the Western Bulldogs, while swingman Griffin Logue is currently unsigned and has attracted interest from other clubs as the Dockers prepare to clear the decks for a likely swing at Jackson.

SEN journalist Sam Edmund is reporting the 26-year-old could be shopped around, but would need to agree to a move back to Victoria, where he played for six years.

Blake Acres is a player that’s been put on the radar of quite a few clubs,” Edmund told the station

“He has been offered a contract for next year at Fremantle that isn’t really to his liking, he might even be asked to take less.

“Whether he’d entertain another move back over to the eastern seaboard, whether it’d be Carlton, whether it’d be North Melbourne, might be a stretch, who knows.

“But the bottom line is they’re a fair way away apart at the moment, player and club.”

Acres was an important figure in Fremantle’s change in style this season and will equal his career-high for games in a season when he makes his 19th appearance in the club’s first final next Saturday night.

He has averaged more than 21 disposals a game this season.

North Melbourne’s watershed signing of Alastair Clarkson just days ago is likely to hold an appeal for a number of opposition players. The master coach signed a five-year deal with the Kangaroos, who this week announced a two-year extension for Ben Cunnington.

Hill, who Acres swapped clubs with at the end of 2019, has also been linked to a move to Arden Street, with the Herald Sun revealing Kangaroos players including vice-captain Jy Simpkin had reached out to the winger.
