Acres seems the only move and maybe trading up somehow draft wise. Setters situation is interesting. If Dow leaves, maybe that’s the only way we make another play at someone else? I see him staying though. I’ve said in other threads, I’d love for another seasoned winger, but am happy we are at least getting one in the door. Other positions if we needed to look at someone during the 10 days would be a ruck and small or half forward.
Yah , Austin seems reluctant to clear more dead wood , no big deal, if not this trade period it will next next, more uninspiring fringe players like Dow, Setterfield and Fog will be gone.
2023 draft cohort, may well be of a higher quality so some list decisions deferred.

Of course it’s not sorted ...as in for ever...

If further opportunities become available down the track then of course you consider them but for this year I think wing position is sorted if we get acres across.
No, what I'm saying is acres has played two thirds of one season at the level that we need him to play at in his whole career. we need to see if he's going to revert to his old ways or continue as he has last season.

Well, we won’t be getting a 2nd round compo for Jones if Amon deal is anything to by, reckon it will be band 5

They will use the Jarrod Waite mantra and we got SFA. 🤨

So when will we know the actual compensation for Liam Jones ?

The compo for Amon was announced with the official news of his trade to Hawthorn, so expect it'll be the same for Jones. Just need Dogs to put in the paperwork.
I have a feeling it will be much later than people are expecting. We agreed to him being available as a free agent and did not have to. Believe some amicable discussions with dogs, AFL and us were had. Actually think there is a chance AFL will in essence back date his formula to compensate us being detrimentally affected by a league directive (dictated by law of land).
Hard to think we don’t play finals if the circumstances did not take place.

Won’t be surprised if deal sneaks through in the heart of the action to divert attention from days of media posturing.

I'm a bit surprised that Amon was only considered band 3, with a 4yr, $650k p/a deal. Must have been very close to the trigger for Band 2.

Given how broad the bands are, Jones could still be at the back end of Band 4 (close to but not quite Band 5) with 3 years at $350k. Probably more likely that he's band 5 though, and it's a 3rd round pick after ladder position would have warranted (Pick 47ish). That may come in closer to Pick 40 though once the academy and father/son bids are resolved.

yeah ok. i cant see it happening under voss though. he got every ounce out of the available players. maybe hes got the playing group making each player more accountable. there is buy in...you can tell. I mean when i saw setters play the way he did in last couple of games i realised something is different at our club. it seems no more tail wagging the dog.
