I would offer Hawkins 3 as a player/coach role. Any bloke could coach our forwards better than Stafford.

Somehow manipulate it so it’s all from that extra 500k soft cap increase.

Could also teach our blokes how to be clumsier if you get my drift.

The best part is Geelong are probably offering him unders because they pissed away their salary cap on Jack Bowes.

Chol has now been dropped by three coaches in a calendar year, after being traded once before. There are clear knocks on his workrate, which has been affirmed by Hardwick preferring an ancient Casboult or a first year Walter to partner King/back up Witts.

The delicious irony of this post. Keep away from Chol because of his off field issues but we're negligent for looking to ship off or shape up Clarry.

I am saying other clubs are now trumping us on our own strategy of trading up in parallel that picks 7,17 won’t provide us with a substantial improvement to our team in 2024.

Trade up strategy unfortunately failed for us on 2023, and possibly again in 2024.

I would like it to work, but can’t see us pulling it off.
I agree but there is a tipping point right. Bulldogs traded 10,17 and a future 1 to get pick 4. That's massive overpaying. I'm glad we didn't try to beat that personally.

We're not done yet though. we'll move up the order in some way.

Grundy was a risk but how many at the time disagreed with the trade?

This years trade period seems to be about opportunity cost as clubs are willing to pay more for draft talent (as per the Bulldogs) thanks to stupid academy rules and North's welfare picks. The risk is you can end up like Fremantle or lessor extent Richmond when trading multiple picks does not work out.

We have a pretty good record and drafting talent with later picks and I dont buy the argument there are "no good players" after the top 20 as we seem to say this every year. Our list management team would have considered this prior to trade period and will recruit on a needs basis.

Sadly there is no Key forward we can just "trade in" but if we can draft some good mids with kicking skills and a key defender/ruck for post May and Max then we should have everything else covered.
Could've had Chol, Koschitzke or Khamis. All 3 would've been decent. Our inactivity has been disappointing. Even the Lachie Schultz talk. Could we outbid pies and try to talk him over.

Make a statement and get big Tomahawk for me. 3 year contract

1-2 years playing/coaching and then into a full time forward coach role.

Show JvR, Petty and Jeffo how to alpha up that 50

Helps us both short term and long term while filling a gaping need (forward coach) and not costing the bank. Could also teach the fellas how to take a set shot or 2 in the process.

Anyone is better than the shitstorm Stafford has turned our forward line into.

You can't just offer him a 3 year deal and then make him coach for a year the money goes into your soft cap.

Yes of course. None of our coaches are gonna get a pay rise after getting paid s**t for years were gonna spend it all on a player.

Half our coaches will probably be gone if our forward line plays like shit for another 2 years.

Toma can transform our forwardline. He would know leading patterns off the back of his hand.

He would know how forwards want a ball to come inside 50 more than any of our current coaching panel would and also know how to seperate with multiple key forwards.

Never see Hawkins/Cameron jumping at the same ball knocking each other out like bowling pins like our forwards do.

Even could teach JvR how to disguise stray elbows better.

Come on mate surely you know paying Hawkins 500k to be a forwards coach won't suddenly make us the most dangerous forward line in the comp. Cats blokes don't jump into each other because they give their forwards space to work. Our forwards have to jump into each other because the ball goes in so ****ing slow long and predictable that if they don't the intercept defender takes it every single time

Hawkins would have had 3 disposals and got suspended in our team in the finals this year. Would have been completely useless with Oliver and Viney kicking the ball 70m into the air.

Toma would demand at training they learn how to hit up inside 50 targets and know what his talking about. Doubt Stafford has any clue by the way it’s been going.

Would also coach our forwards to seperate and create space or lead at the ball carrier instead of all hover in a cluster of 20 players.

Bloke has serious forward craft. Wouldn’t be afraid to tell Kozzie to get ****ed as well when he spoils everyone going for a 1/1000 attempt at MOTY

Great chance to capitalise on geelong cooking there salary cap on Bowes.

Yeah that's just rubbish lol Tom Hawkins isn't coming in and coaching the side and changing the way we play that's nuffy territory.

It's just dumb, if you're so slow with your ball movement the opposition can get everyone back inside 50 like what happened against Carlton and Collingwood how in the **** does the forward coach do anything? Hey Fritta find space and lead up the middle inbetween 13 pies players. Oh Oliver kicked it over your head? Oh well try again next time pal.

That’s also an issue, both need fixing. Draft Windsor and **** off Langdon for starters.

Maybe try get Billing’s on the cheap.

New midfield coach hopefully will also change it up.
