Are you guys after Harry Himmelberg ( assuming Buddy, Sam Reid retire). If not, do you think he would like to come to Geelong.
I would be disappointed if we haven't approached him.

However, there's been nothing posted to this board that indicates he's on the Swans agenda.
If Cal Twomey & co can't work out who we're going to pick for the draft, you can bet the rest of us have no idea who they are targeting recruitment wise, especially this early in the season.

Just on Sheldrick.
I am on a rant. Sorry.
Many had Roberts ahead of Sheldrick after the last game.
What they do not take into account is:
Sheldrick was a lock and we have the luxury of seeing Roberts in a full game knowing Mills was injured. Perfect. Give Sheldrick a late run. We are tuned up for round one.
There was a lot of experimentation/ tuning in that game. Different roles:
Bud 3rd target
Logan higher upfield
Errol mids
Harry FP
Stretch more minutes against senior rucks
Roberts midfield minutes
If he had been 100% I'll bet Gould would have played. Francis got the full game the week before.
Probably other subtle things we wouldn't notice.
Great workout IMO.

Rumour has it, yes. Attribute wise, about the closest player to Reid in the comp... and we both know how important Reid is to our game plan, we were prepared to play him injured in a GF.
No idea on the last point, haven't heard if he's a wannabe property developer or not

Agree with all of these, with the exception of Cunningham in the forward line. I'm not so sure that was an experiment, so much as an important practice run given we need someone in that role as all the other candidates (Clarke, Wicks, Konstanty) are dropping like flies, and Sheldrick isn't quite ready. So I think that move was Horse actually preparing Cunningham for him to be able to do that role once the season proper begins.

I'm also still of the belief that Gulden will be in the midfield a lot this year. I doubt he has the monopoly on the midfield rotations like he had in both practice games - Mills and Papley still to come back, also I saw somewhere that Rowbottom only had something like 45% TOG in the first half, suggesting he was also being heavily managed - but I'm expecting Gulden to be a significant presence in our midfield set-up this season.

Sam McClure is reporting we're prepared to offer Tom De Koning an eight-year deal.

This is based on an overheard comment picked up in our game against Carlton.

“I cannot wait until next year when you’re playing in red and white.”
That was the comment from a young Sydney star during a practice match last week, about one of the hottest out-of-contract commodities on the market.

That’s Carlton’s Tom De Koning, the man his teammates call “King” – and a royal rumble is about to ensue for his services.
But there is some good news for Carlton fans. Sources close to De Koning are adamant that if he plays, he stays.

oh great, so we're going to have to wait a whole year to find out that he's chosen to stay at the blues, or worse, has elected to move to Geelong
I look forward to finding out whether it's:

a) Great player retention, a boost for the club's continued finals hunt in combination with multiple other guns they've traded in this off-season (Blues)
b) Great player recruitment from an accomplished off-field team, the best in the business, the template to follow, incredible cap management (Cats)
c) Unfairly poaching talent from the poor club that developed him, by a club historically showered with allowances and needs a good academy review (us)

I would be extremely surprised if an afl player actually said that on the field.

Did he also let tdk know that his mum said it was OK if they had a sleep over

The “red & white” referred to South Freo, who are doubtless in need of some depth in the defensive ranks.

As an aside, I read his nickname is “bongy”. Helpful if you’re trying to avoid excess attention from the AFL drug testers.

Practice run = tuning?

If your mob is offering TDK an 8 year deal I want them drug tested. He's a fun player to watch and all but shit me he's not worth that sort of offer...

But... If your list management is serious about that, I'd happily take Braeden Campbell or any other left footers you've got in the sheds who can kick the pill 70m without breaking a sweat.

You guys over paid for Cerra. He is OK but will never be the answer. Hewett has more impact for Carlton than Cerra.
If you read anything in the media about us then I know it is not true. In the media is not our style.

While I agree with you on George (Imo our 2nd best mid) I think you'll be surprised by Cerra this year. Struggled with form after quite a bad stint of Covid early in the year and a couple of minor injuries to his knee and hamstring from what we heard. Still growing into his body but he certainly shares the team first defensive mindset that George does, just isn't quite at Georges level yet.

And yes, I agree that it doesn't sound very Swan-like but honestly with some of the crazy stories about Ess and Stk offers to him and Cornes yelling from the rooftops he's the next million-dollar player in the AFL I don't know what to believe anymore. All I do know is I've watched every game he's ever played for Carlton and he's simply not a great, nor a good player at this stage in his career. Perhaps recruiters know a bit more about injuries he's had to play through and things and expect him to explode with a healthy pre season... I just don't see it.
