I believe Grundy would be a great acquisition.

To me, the most likely scenario is a pick swap - say 12 for 17+Grundy+a steak knife pick.

But the Swans are shrewd - it’ll all depend on who we like in the draft & where we expect them to go.
Now, now, now, enough of this crazy logic!

McCartin was a very promising forward before being swung back
Richards was a forward iirc
Grundy was drafted as a forward
I'd argue Campbell's best work in U18 was forward before we made him a HBF for a bit
Yes I think the Campbell one was a mistake. Why would you put a bloke who can kick 4 goals in a match at half back? Astounding. Almost as bad as having Mills rotting at HB for 4 years.

Kane Cornes said the word out of Adelaide is that they have missed out on Grundy on the Sunday footy show. Multiple reports are coming out saying Sydney is his destination.

IF ANYONE CAN FIND ME A CLIP OF THIS I'D BE ENTERNALLY GRATEFUL:praying:

Our midfield isn’t really competitive against decent sides atm, particularly with Parker’s (and Mills’) seeming decline. I know most are blaming hobbled Hickey for our lack of clearances, but I think we struggle there with any ruck. An experienced in and under type should be an absolute priority. Instead we’re wooing a 30 year old ruck who can’t play forward and who’s been a fringe player at his last two clubs and a North Melbourne defender. It’s kinda ridiculous.

We ain’t challenging next year. There are big problems with our list management. Seems they can’t even identify what we need correctly

I think that will depend on what we think if Arnold and Edwards. My concern is that if we have too many KD, their development will be stunted due to lack of opportunity. I think that's what has happened to Owen in the ruck department.

I think Arnold will definitely be good. Edwards I am not so sure on. As for Owen, he was ordinary to poor in the matches I saw. He needs either a lot of work or an easier comp

After the academy matches 12 will most likely be 15 (1112). 17 would be nice but 15 looks more likely, going out to 18 (985). That's 127 = pick 62. Won't happen.
Pick 15 with their 34 out to 37 (483) coming back 625 = pick 31 but we may as well give them our 31 out to 34
Or we give them our 22 out to 25.
Not sure steak knife picks are any use to them unless they are chasing GC pick 4.

Arent challenging?? Mate we’ll have Goulden, The Chad & Sheldrick in our mids.. Add some nice tap work from a decent ruck & our opponents will be shaking in there boots!

Most players are just coming into their prime at 25.
Absolutely, but Brodie went backwards this year and couldn't break into the team despite O'Meara being pretty average. Obviously, the Dockers also boast Brayshaw and Serong so it's not exactly the easiest midfield to break into but I'm not convinced he would solve all our problems either. He is also contracted until 2026 so the Dockers could play hard ball if they really wanted to and I don't think he's worth the fight/draft capital required to pry him out when we have other business to focus on.

So it seems the best we can hope for is a mediocre old ruck in Grundy and a defender in McKay who doesn't seem any better than what we have already?
If Grundy is a "mediocre" ruck we may as well forget about trying to fix our ruck issues, because then there's only about half a dozen good rucks in the competition.

why?

I'd offer pick 12 in a heartbeat personally

Few reasons:

Grundy is not in best 22 for Dees and is tak8ng up a large amount of cap. We would be doing the dees a favour purely taking his wage from their cap.

Secondly, why pay pick 12 for someone who cost pick 27 a year ago. His value has not gone up and if he choses us, it would be around dame value.
