Would be better than Clarke a DFA selection we could do worse
I'm not even convinced he'd be better than Clarke if we want him to play that role. He'd definitely be more expensive than Clarke though.

Midfielders:

Cal Twomey has advised not may quality midfielders in this draft outside of the Top 10. There's always a few smokies though, hope we get one.

Cleary not in his top 30
Hopefully we can sneak in 2 picks before Cleary (assuming we have enough space on the list).

Would be a very good haul if we can pull that off and still get Grundy and McKay.

Important (for competing teams) to have a squad of at least 26-30 players who can play seniors…those outside the 23 to put pressure on the players to push improved and consistent performance.

One of our issues is we don’t have enough pressure on the senior players to perform. It doesn’t help losing the likes of Stephens in that regard, one of only a handful of players putting pressure to play seniors.
Couldn't agree more. It's amazing as to how many here are only interested in the best 22. Like, we're never going to have injuries and players will never lose form. Personally, I think Jordon would be a great inclusion to our squad. He has never had a real opportunity at Melbourne being behind Oliver, Petracca, Viney Neal-Bullen and Rivers. Has been sub for a number of games this year.

Sweet, Harmes, Jordon …. so much excitement over a bunch of fringe players that likely will remain so.

It feels like the good ol’ Mason Wood days.

Post-script: yes, yes, I know - Sweet might get better. But he’s still a VFL player.
Why are you worried about Sweet? He's not coming to us.
Oh, that's right, your in WA. 2 days behind the Eastern states. :dizzy:

From what I've seen, Dees fans don't rate Jordon. However, I wouldn't mind him as a cheap discard. He has upside and he'll grow with our other young players.

I can't see that same upside in Harmes. He will be more expensive, he only played 9 games this year and was subbed off in 3 of them, had an average year last year, and it doesn't seem like Melbourne fans are desperate to keep him.

I'm also biased because I still remember Harmes' dog shot on Lloyd in the Qualifying Final. Flog.

I like the idea of recruiting James Jordon but I'm not that enthusiastic for Harmes tbh.

Improving depth is great but Harmes is 29 next year so I feel like he'd be robbing a few of the younger blokes of opportunities next year.

That would be the key thing the price.

As he shouldn’t be everyone overrates Allies mids. We should get two picks before Cleary

I'm not sure I'd give up anything for Harmes at all. I don't see what he would add to our list.
He isn’t even steak knives….Melbourne won’t be offering anything of value other than Grundy….

Really interesting what it must take to get into that Top 30. Having watched Cleary he looks well up to VFL standard. Not a star but certainly not a mug either. Definitely draftable IMO.
I'm still hoping that we may be able to trade up to GC pick 4 (out to 5 or even 6) to pick up O'Sullivan or Sanders if we do pick up McKay.

Assuming McKay decides to go elsewhere, I feel we will be 100% into Dougal Howard.
