Wouldn't mind James Harmes

AFL standard, works, can finish a bit of play

Got pushed out of a solid Melbourne side
Would he be a list replacement for Clarke perhaps? A more genuine inside player than Clarke?

This was the first link of James Jordon to us back in July

Mentioned again in Marc McGowan in Tuesday’s Age article
Yep, ignore my previous post Wolfgang West - we have rumours going all the way back to July/August regarding our interest in Jordon.

Unrestricted Free Agent would be a good get for us. Keep our draft picks.

Port already find themselves with two players committed to going there, each requiring a pick in the 20's at best, yet their first pick is 37. Hardly figure how they expect to get Sweet as well. Particularly when the dogs have stated that they don't want to lose him.
There is a cracker post on the Port board are in terms it was "We would get Grundy, McKay & Ratugolea and keep our first pick and that we be a good trade period."

Getting in Grundy, which looks very likely, will be brilliant.
Getting in McKay, which looks less likely, would be an improvement but if it doesn't happen we'll survive.
Is James Jordan better than Dylan Stephens, to whom we have offered a contract? Or would he replace Stephens if he left? Is he better than Gulden, McInerney or Campbell? If not, why do it? If he is, let's go for it.
Where does James Harmes fit? Replace Rowbottom? Turns 28 next month. Why on earth would we do that?
1st Priority - Grundy
2nd Priority - tall defender hopefully McKay
3rd priority - inside midfielder / decent depth.

I think the question should more be, is either going to be better than Ryan Clarke?

The answer is undoubtedly yes. We need better depth, ability to not play injured players, of which at least 3 were for large parts of the season.

So he replaces someone who wasn't in the side in the last round and that most don't have as B22 anymore?
Important (for competing teams) to have a squad of at least 26-30 players who can play seniors…those outside the 23 to put pressure on the players to push improved and consistent performance.

One of our issues is we don’t have enough pressure on the senior players to perform. It doesn’t help losing the likes of Stephens in that regard, one of only a handful of players putting pressure to play seniors.

Can't see him moving to us to might play AFL and probably only play VFL

Honestly think North prefer the draft pick (Don't blame them).

But rate North's list moving forward.
I agree….as a side note, how can they seek assistance when they make this decision?

Its very fascinating the reasons Port decided to withdraw their interest.

Unlikely to be ever known but Tom Morris has gone with "different life perspectives"

What does that mean?
Tom probably a good one to ask I reckon.

It's not purely for next year. It could be to allow re-shuffling for Parker going forward next year or later. It might mean someone gets pushed out of the fwd line, or we rotate the sub a bit more within a defined Best 23 instead of whoever is performing best in reserves. Always injuries.

Few young players are given guarantees. We may be telling him, as we would Stephens, that we believe they’re capable of breaking into the 22.

He might back himself to be able to break into the team, at least with comparison with the Demons who have one of the best midfields in the AFL.
