I didn’t see the stats, but by my count we gave them about 170 uncontested intercept marks. Our kicking is always a weak link, but what was that down to? Forwards having a ‘mare? Extra Swans heat putting the kicker under pressure? Not holding composure on the occasion?

Whilst the scoreboard shows the Swans behinds left some goals out there, I feel we left another 5 plus out there with shocking delivery and thoughtless bombing.

I think part of the problem (not over training on it but it needs a tweak) with our backline is that they KNoW they are slow. So they desperately don’t want the ball to get out the back because they know they won’t run them down….and so they tend to sag off a bit which allows the short hit up. They’re all good footballers but as a group it’s a weakness. I wish they were playing Boyd.

What a night!! Like a lot of us the joy of singing the song with my 14 year who has had to endure so much disappointment is a memory I won’t forget. I hope Harry recovers OK.

Sydney were incredibly disciplined about cutting off our 45 angle kick. I think they realised correctly that if you stop that kick you totally destroy our offensive effectiveness. The whole team has to work a bit harder to create movement to then get someone free. We can’t beat Melbourne by kicking down the line all time like we did tonight.

He was practically cheering when Harry went down, and every goal line save was a goal etc…. was so biased in his comments, he is very worried that his precious pies may be coming up against a blues side that is every bit as good or better than them.

My voice is still gone from last night - what a feeling!
Crowd was electric. The Cripps goal was something else.

Cottrell was unreal, just doesn't stop running.
Walsh, Cerra and George ran the midfield while Crippa was being tagged.
Acres and the Skip are playing through some pain and getting the job done.
Feels like teams are starting to put a lot more time into Newman and it allowed Saad off the leash last night.
After a couple of poor moments Marchbank was really important across half back.

Felt like we lost a bit of structure when Harry went down. Apart from his nightmare in front of goal he was playing well, going to be hard to replace.

Great to get the job done with Cripps and Charlie being relatively quiet. Onto the Dees.

Got home from the game about 1.30am … exhausted but elated
We’ve made a final … we’ve won a final !!
Some achievement from 15th position earlier in the season
Can’t fault our effort at all and we’ll take a lot from the experience into next week and next season.
To have Cottrell and Marchbank in our best players suggests our list is nearing the stage it needs to be to contend going forward.

Marchbank best game of his career. So courageous. Well done.

It’s an interesting one. I’ve seen several praising him and saying Weitering was beaten… but I mostly saw it the other way around. Marchbank had a few good courageous moments, but is often beaten out of position and not great with the ball. He got cleanly out marked by a smaller man at least once last night. I feel he’s a real vulnerability, whereas I see Weitering as a wall that teams have to go around to score. He usually beats his man and helps everyone else out.

Maybe I’m taking my bias in and seeing only things that confirm my view. Shrug.

Obviously I want any and all of our guys to be great, but I don’t see it with Marchy and I don’t quite trust him. Weitering I absolutely trust.

I haven’t watched Martins incident, but I’m sure I’ll be outraged after Maynard will get 1 off for knocking out a player and Martin will get one two for being a bit rough in a tackle.
