Yeah, if Fisher has a poor game and we win, Boyd should come in the week after. I just don't know if they'll do it this week, since Boyd hasn't played since his suspension. Shame we aren't in VFL finals for Boyd/Kennedy to get a run / prove their fitness.

Jack Martin isn't immune to criticism. I kept him in my 22 but he had team low contested possessions (2), metres gained (70), disposal efficiency (42%), tackles (0) etc. Was a really poor game. Obviously he's been great in our run and an important piece to us. I would say Owies & McKay are picked before him too. He wouldn't want to have a bad elimination final, with our taller forward line (TDK/Curnow/McKay) and good in form smalls.
Who cares how he performed vs gws. I don't think he, Voss or any club official cares about anything from Sundays game except the injury report.

This is so hard, you can mount a case for different selections - but, I’ve gone with this team:

Newman Weitering Cincotta
Saad Kemp McGovern
Acres Cripps Docherty
Martin McKay Fogarty
Owies Curnow Motlop
FOL: DeKonig, Cerra, Walsh
INT: Hewett, Boyd, Cottrell, Pittonet
SUB: Dow

IN: Cripps, Docherty, Pittonet, Motlop, Boyd
OUT: Dow (sub), Fisher, Durdin, Holland, Marchbank, Cunners

The two biggest calls are:
1. Boyd - Sydney got so many small / medium sized players that we need an extra small defender to be available to play a lock down role

2. Pitto - our game is based on clearances. We need help from the ruckman

More than happy for Martin to have taken it easy for a week before the finals. He has been nothing short of inspirational with regards to his intensity, pressure and kicking important goals. He has led the way for the forward pressure. An absolute must selection and he could have an even worse game next week and he'll still keep his spot.

You've also dropped Cunners there.
I'd keep him ahead of Fog.
IMO Cunners is a better player than Fog, but defensively Fog is much better…

The Swans have a habit of hurting us with small/ medium sized forwards

I’m gonna go with…

Newman Weitering Cincotta

Saad Kemp McGovern

Acres Cripps Docherty

Martin McKay Fogarty

Owies Curnow Motlop

FOL: TDK, Cerra, Walsh
INT: Hewett, Cunners, Cottrell, Pitto
SUB:Dow

EMG: Hollands, Marchbank, Fish

Not even going to attempt to guess the ins and outs, but I wouldn't be using anyone's form from the GWS game as a deciding factor.

Main thing is, Cripps and Doc will be available. Weiters is available. Cerra, Walsh and Gov got runs.
Saad seemed alright for the rest of the game, and Acres has been cleared of any breaks and has 12 days to be right.

All of a sudden, the only significant players on the injury list are Kennedy, Silvagni and Williams.

Sak AR !!! ........................

Pretty much my thoughts. I would probably prefer Dow getting a full game over Hewett but I think Dow is a better Sub option so I would be happy going either way.

Durdin laid 6 tackles on the weekend.

Edit: I would not be dropping Martin after what he has come back and done. He has put a lot of runs on the board.
Durdin lays tackles but leaves huge holes in zones. His running patterns are a bit too all over the place for mine. Energizer bunny who I think will be a really good player but looks to me like he's not there yet.

Besides he is playing off with mots for a spot. Not Martin - who plays taller or small as requried.

People shitting on Fisher for Sunday's game, yet Martin was clearly worst on ground. I'd be dropping him for Motlop.

Different positions for a start. Martin has a higher ceiling in match.

In; Cripps, Docherty, Motlop

Out: Dow, Fisher, Durdin, Marchbank (sub)

Newman - Weitering - Kemp
Saad - McGovern - Docherty
Acres - Cerra - Hollands
Fogarty - McKay - Cuningham
Martin - Curnow - Owies
De Koning - Cripps - Walsh

Hewett - Cottrell - Motlop - Cincotta

Sub: Dow

Other EMG: Pittonet - Curnow - Fisher

Would prefer but unlikely Cincotta out for Marchbank

Would also prefer Dow in the 22 but I don't see it happening.

Think that's very close to our best side at the moment

I reckon that’s about right. Fair issues we’ve got if young Ollie who’s done everything right and Cunners (albeit after a couple quieter games) are getting pushed out. Agree re: Pitto. We base our game off clearance and TDK and Harry isn’t the combo.

I wouldn’t put too much stock into individual rnd 24 performances as a determinant for finals selection.

It’ll be fascinating to see team selection and the balance we go after, but I can’t see a path where Martin isn’t selected. He’ll be a ****ing wrecking ball come week one of finals.

Here's an idea, pick a side by who you can see etching themselves into history with a play off performance. When you think of it that way, the Martin selection is simple, can imagine him nailing a tackle on a wing or kicking a goal dead through the middle from 40. This is where someone like Cincotta may make the play, you can imagine him drilling one from 55m on the run, Boyd doesn't have the same impact but am I overthinking the upside for the downside? I actually like Hollands in this scenario, can imagine him running back with the flight like he has already this season in pivotal moments. Does Docherty play that true wing role as well as Hollands does? I dunno, i'd rather have Doch at half back and Hollands on the wing.

Who are your tentative selections and what would their finals winning moment be?

Can someone please explain what you see in Boyd and why you want him in the 22?

The winning streak came when I was blind so I understand I've missed an enormous amount of nuance and not being at games I miss a lot of the system structure that gets missed on television. He played in half of those games then copped the suspension.

I know he's gutsy AF and can play much taller than his actual height. However, at this stage he has missed a lot of senior level football juices of suspension and then not coming immediately in

So to those putting him in their 22, what makes him an inclusion after missing the end of the season and only managing 8 senior games this year?

Note: I'm not bagging him or you for putting him in. Simply curious and wanting good insight.

I want Hollands giving us 15 km off the wing while Doc and Saad provide, run and play. Making off of halfback. I want Blake Acres playing his role on both sides of the ball. I want Cotts gut running off the bench to complement all 4 of them and then give us something across half forward as the cherry on top.

Not many teams can handle all of that.

There's not many teams who can match that.
