My only worry is some of our games eg Melbourne was finals like intensity.
Where dump kicks where needed due to the pressure we seem have fallen back into this.
We will need composure as well as pressure to win we will need go with some dare and risk using the corridor we can’t think pressure will be enough
We can’t play conservative and dump high balls to our forwards again
We need to play a delicate mix of possession and territory football
If we do keep our heads and move the ball as we have shown the ability too
We smash them and come out with a 4-5 goal easy win
If we play nervous dump kicks conservative solely contested we have nevouse 2 point win
Vossy mentioned after GWS they had a few things to work on.

Could the bye have come at a better time? Players back, refresh and revisit our method.

Noticed yesterdays training a focus on short hit up kicks - to your point.

Way to ensure we can keep Sydney's backline accountable and prevent them double teaming Charlie?
Sydney will have their hands full.

McCartin is the only option on Charlie - so who plays on H? McCartin on H - opens Charlie up for a bag.

They don’t have a defensive plan B.

Throw in Martin & our smalls - we should feast on the wide open MCG.

Our defence needs to break down the run coming from their back half - particularly 🦎.

The short chipping games rarely if ever stand up in finals other than the Hawks who also had the right mix of hardness. I hope to god we are not considering defaulting back to the possession style game that failed us so dismally earlier this year. Our strength is winning the ball at the stoppage and moving it quickly.

Almost incredible and also easy to underestimate how much Dow has added to our stoppage game over the last month or so. Has been a big part of the resurgence.

Looks like we are unsurprisingly by far the least experienced list when it comes to this years Finalists - I didn’t even realize we had as many as 8 on our list but only 5 of those will play on Friday (and that’s if Acres gets up)

The 8 are Acres Curnow Hewett McGovern Newman Saad Williams and Young

Hewett has played 8 finals so far…

They have McCartin, Rampe and Melican (in the twos IIRC). McCartin and Melican to put a body on harry/charlie and Rampe to drop off his man if we just bomb long.

We need to be smart with our f50 entries.

Just another game ;)

We actually got an interesting finals history against South Melbourne/The Swans.

I wonder if anyone here is old enough to remember the 1945 bloodbath grand final, aside from thylacine60 and Grand Uncle Horace? :)

Earliest surviving footage of any Aussie Rules game

Fascinating stuff (I am a big fan of footy history and archive footage)

Weird feeling knowing we are playing finals, then having to wait a fortnight for the game.
Incredible that we are almost full strength and coming off a 9/1 winning streak leading into finals.
We should be favourites however they have more finals experience and an experienced premiership coach.
Longmire will have them ready.
Hoping we’ve had plenty of practice in last 3 minute scenario’s (protecting/chasing the lead) which have been woeful.

damnit… no shots of yours truly.

I was up in the Smokers Stand, smoking stogies and swigging from a quart of Whiskey. Had to wear an overcoat over my standard toga to meet the dress code.

Great day…Thanks heaps Elmer for posting that.

Personally would be starting with the Pitto/TDK combo and then subbing off Pitt mid-way into the 3rd if we have no other concerns. Bring on a runner and let TDK jump all over Hickey in the 2nd half.
If TDK is having no influence as a tall FWD, or contesting against Harry & Charlie in packs, then I'd make that move at half time.

Yep, although the week's rest/bye can only do our boys the world of good (we did seem fatigued in the 2nd half of our final home ans away season game vs Giants)

Definitely can't take the Swans lightly, if we can shut down Gulden and/or Warner especially, that will go a long way for us winning their game.

Can't wait. 10 Years since I have last been to a finals game (I only go to Carlton games these days) and I am getting goosebumps thinking about the roar from the crowd when the players come out of the race and onto the G and DA DA DA DA DA starts ringing out across the G..
