Remains my favourite number nine

Kenny was Kenny....a delight to watch.

But for a young fella with my brothers, ol man, and a paper bag full of peanuts, the mighty Greg Towns was a joy to watch racking up votes in the 2's each week at Princes Park while we waited for the cocky Seniors to put on their weekly Showtime.

Just watching the Freo replay again as nothing else to do on a Fri night.
Some observations….
JSOS needs to be back in the side. He lost hit outs but his influence far outweighed the impact of Darcy and Jackson.
I think we need to keep a settled back 6…..Weiters, Gov, Kemp, Saad, Newman and Cinc…..they’ve built a chemistry.
Cerra and BamBam are bulls, but BamBam may not be match fit.
Doc and Walsh outside working in.
Cotters and Acres are our wingers.
Harry and Charlie must play together.
So by my reckoning TDK in (takes Young’s spot from Freo game)
JSOS and BamBam unlikely to be fit, Owie, Cunners and Mots play
Could Marchy be a JSOS replacement???

I’m up.

Took a moment to ponder and piddle.

Everyone’s asleep, something NQR.

I’m buzzing but the world around me is too quite.

Feel awkward, agitated, it’s unusual.

I feel like there is some pressure in me feet and hands, something needs to give.

Need some fresh air. The moon is casting shadows outside, it’s beautiful.

Picked up the tommy, little bugger, he’s been calling me.

Shall I, should I, can I, **** yes I will…

Shimmy, sidestep, bounce, and another, baulk (crowds going wild) drop Tommy perfectly onto my right and drill it 3.7m into the fence, goal, you ****en beauty Carlton win the grand final on the siren.

Never wanted a weekend to finish so quickly for the week to start. **** the bye weekend.

The twilight zone!

Would be nice to see training in the interim.

Don't think I've seen a more courageous player. Ken Hunter. What a player.

It's called intense anticipation.

The talk of Kenny Hunter takes me back to my early football watching days. In my opinion, the 81-82 team is the best Carlton team that I have had the pleasure to have watched. Champs in every part of the ground. I have great memories of 95 but I reckon the 81-82 crew were better.

I think it was the last time we had a really good ruckman in Mike Fitzpatrick.

Moving to the present. The Blues simply have to bring the effort next week and we'll be fine. Hopefully Blacres is good to go. We will welcome back Crippa and Doc. I suppose we need to bring pack Pitto. The Pitto/TDK combo is not my preferred ruck set up but it does give us better structure when Pitto is rucking and TDK is forward. I would drop Fish, Ollie Hollands and Marchy. Paddy Dow to be sub.

The Swans will not die wondering, so we need to bring the physicality and pressure to match them. We should win and set up a clash with our beloved Magpie friends. Kicking them out of the finals would bring great joy.

My young fella just sent me this from the open training session….Gee whizz Princes Park in September is magical.

Walking in early to Princes Park with my father and his friends to make a day off watching the reserves before the seniors was the highlight of my week you could watch David Mackay and Alex marcou develop and knew they were champions in the making well before they made it into the seniors........ and that's the way our best players were developed properly under the guidance of the oldest senior players who missed out on the 1st 18 selected..... The outer at all the suburban grounds was also the place we would see the same familiar faces who were no longer strangers that became friends at least for every afternoon at the footy

Harry Madden went OK.

So reading that Errol Gulden was a massive Blues fan growing up, let's hope we have Crippa and Walshie in his ear about him eventually coming over to us.

He would be pretty slick in Navy Blue I dare say.

Loved Harry, he went alright but so he should have at 6 foot 9. Didn't take enough marks for someone of his height. Was a reliable set shot at goal and reasonably skilled for someone of his height. His brother Simon was the far better ruckman though.

Fitzy was slightly undersized but his ruck craft was excellent, could take a good contested mark and moved much better than Justin. He could also be relied upon to sneak forward and kick goals regularly. He was a good leader, being captain through the latter stages of his career. Retired too young.

Justin’s tap work was sublime. Selling him short.

He did a lot better than to 'go alright' . Played a lone hand as our ruckman for the majority of his 287 games at Carlton. Played in two premiership teams, missed out on the Brownlow by a vote, was a beautiful left foot kick, was durable and was a reliable kick at goal. I don't know what else one could ask for from a ruckman, he was a deadset champion.

Crazy good to be All Australian in just his third season and great value at Pick 32 in the 2020 Draft

But he’s from Sydney - born and raised - and then Swans academy too - so just because he and his mum were Blues fans years ago will mean little going forward now

Hopefully Hollands and Binns and the Campo brothers can develop along nicely
