Not advocating it, but really believe Dutchy would match up well.

Ollie was cooked before his injury and needed a break. He got a break. Back as a running machine with a discernible amount of physical growth. With his natural endurance, combativeness and game smarts, he is our best match for an accountable role of the instinctive Gulden. Week off gives him the perfect preparation.

I have plenty of faith in the lad.
I also have faith. He's gonna be a ripper. But Gulden is on another level this year.

Not to say Dutchy won't close the gap in future.

Not really relevant, but last game he went at 44% efficiency

But he has improved, career high 53% this year, just ahead of Cuners, Pitto, Owies

I know I am tough on Dow, but the way he gets talked up around here is like he is an elite player

It's strange that that annoys you.

I don't get the attempt to suppress the positive talk around Dow by some on here. No one is saying he's elite, many are saying he has the potential to be a star and he has had elite moments no doubt. But eliteness comes from doing it week in week out for years and he's a long long way from that. But to get agitated with posters being excited about the whipping boy finally showing something and feeling the need argue against it I don't get.

I think it’s fair to say that while his overall disposal efficiency is not elite, his ability to win first possession/contested possession and dishing it out by hand is bordering on elite

Can’t see Kennedy nor Boyd playing again this year. Match fitness is utmost importance in finals, you don’t bring back people back for their 1st game in finals unless they are you superstars
Why would Boyd be unfit? He hasn’t been injured….I see him as an ideal matchup for Papley, who is coming off injury

l believe most on here just wanted to see Dow given the opportunity at senior level to ascertain where he was at, not sure anybody is saying he is elite, probably somewhere in the middle ground between the knockers here & people who believe he has some genuine talent, pretty certain you can flaws in most players to some extent.

Pretty well all of the Dow narrative around here erupts when certain poster's(and there's been many) feel the need to reduce his contributions and worthiness of team selection, which is then defended.
He's earned the block of recent games through 2 seasons of strong, injury free VFL performances, outstanding sub moments and now he's been amongst our top 2 mids in the absence of our established 'stars'.
Whatever the future holds for him, he deserves acknowledgement from all Carlton supporters.

Don't create false and misleading inferences about how Dow is talked up around here as a way to counterbalance your opinions of him (which you are entitled to...)

FWIW...I was one who wanted to give the (non-elite) Dow a go. He's been serviceable but even I've been disappointed with his lack of defensive running and lack of brutality when trying to regain the ball.

His spot in the team is in jeopardy. If he's in, good luck to him. Hope he helps us win the game

Dow rarely gets cheap possessions in the back line to boost up the disposal efficiency. Kicking efficiency from Clearences are always going to be lower for obvious reasons.

Nailed it - bet the defense would appreciate it if he come back and helped out - even if it is a few “cheapies”

I like what Dow has done the last couple of months but like every other player he has weaknesses - be interesting if he stays - sub for mine

Some of the back forth in here is a bit much.

We're like an ouroboros. Must be the nerves getting to everyone.

I don’t have any nerves. I’m cold as ice.

A lack of brutality?

This was in the GC game after he got his face smashed in trying to desperately win the ball. He's winning the ball at the coalface with Cripps and Hewett, he wouldn't be there if he was lacking brutality.

Do you even watch our games?

I'll be the lone ranger and say that I'm hoping Corey Durdin is in the 22 this week.
It’s been an up and down year for Corey - I had him breaking out and forecast as our #1 small forward at the start of the year

A solid first 8-9 games but not outstanding and probably due to the rest of the teams performance

Like me I think a lot of us have wanted to see how he would perform in our Post Curnow Camp team

Only problem for Corey is that Motlop and Owies are in career best form and I think we play better with only 2 of the 3
