I'd like to display Champion Data the amount of respect that they deserve here (Switkowski should be in the AA team?) - None

Anyone who saw the giants game saw how badly the Harry in the ruck thing worked. It looked a quick way to turn him into a draft horse.

I think that clearances were about even but there's were decisive and ours were insipid.

The way that we beat the swans is to dominate them at clearance, over and over again. We are ranked the #1 team for scores from clearance they are ranked #16. Pitto bangs into them and TDK jumps over them. And we give our blokes first use of the ball.

And in a perfect world half way through the third when they are worn down we sub Pitto off and bring on a runner.

We've got a one wood that we are the best in the comp at using. Let's just take it out and use it on Friday night.
Not the same Champion Data, that had Brodie Grundy as the AA No1 rated ruckman a month ago.
How dare you doubt their insight

The buzz really has kicked in today. Been excited but itching to get to the G now. It’s gonna be a tough fight, the weather will be an interesting factor, may suit our contested game where as Sydney like to run and keep the ball in space, especially as they move off HB. Think if we can make it hard fought, create a lot of stoppage, get our clearance game going and win those match ups, we give this a good shake.

Doc, Crippa, Mots will be locks but the interesting one is Pitto.
They have a lot of game winners in their side. Stopping the distribution from the back half from Blakey and Lloyd is important. I think we tried to add some layers in that Giants game, and will go back to some things which was working for us prior.

2 more sleeps.

I find this interesting.

We have far more game changers/winners in our side - Weiters, Newman (in current form), Guv and Saad the equal of any of their backs.

Gulden - great young player, but any more influential than a Cerra, Walsh or Cripps?

And Harry, Charlie and Jack Martin all capable of tearing a game apart up forward.

I don't see good match ups in the SYD lineup for any of those three....

Sydney - a team of good honest toilers.

Heeney been so so this season, ditto Mills.

Hickey is way off last year's form.

Lloyd - sure, good player, ditto McCartin and Rampe ....

Guys like Florent - yep good player.

Bottom line is they were very, very lucky to make the eight.

They don't play well at the G.

Their midfield is pretty thin (midfields win finals).

Their forwards are young, inexperienced and they seldom get 'off the leash'.

We just have to do what we (normally) do, well.

our surge has mainly been off the back off all the honest toilers playing well and high pressure. We've had a few monster games from Charlie and Cripps, but they're not really the reason for this surge.

play at our best with incredible pressure and we are too good. if we go back to relying on our stars and playing champagne footy we will get found out.

Of course. We have them too, and yeah arguably more right now with form. Maybe it’s just the anxiety of knowing what those players can produce if it’s clicking. And they will have the same worries about us, I’m sure they know and are wary of what Harry could do if he finds some touch early on in the game for example despite his form.

I think the most important thing is what you’ve said in that last sentence from all of that. We will win if we do what we did well for those 10 weeks. I think we can suffocate them with that pressure we’ve showcased since the turn of the bye. Game winning players are important at the crunch, but I’ll back us to get a result if we have 23 players on the same page and showing some great cohesion on Friday.

Pretty difficult to have a high disposal efficiency from Clearences
You are definitely taking the P155 here lol

Outside of obviously watching and seeing how poor his kicking is, here some stats

10 games in 2023
Avgs 16disposals per game.
9.4 disposals are uncontested.
9.6 disposals are kicks.
Kicking efficiency at 53% (below avg).

For context, Cez kicks it at 66% (above avg.)

I've seen him miss the easiest of passes, with 0 pressure, on numerous occasions.

He needs to work on his kicking 💯.

That's not the point of my reply.

Far from it.

I think we've got the better side, but it's a bit rough to leave out four of their best five players. Where's Warner, Papley, Parker and Blakey?

Dow rarely gets cheap possessions in the back line to boost up the disposal efficiency. Kicking efficiency from Clearences are always going to be lower for obvious reasons.

Coz he doesn't do defence? You're having a laugh now. Into Thy's dungeon.

If Dow doesn't play we don't beat St Kilda or Gold Coast. But yeah. His disposal efficiency from Clearence. Some people have no idea. The same bloke bags Kemp at every opportunity. The same player that has had a career best season and established himself in the starting 18.
If weather is biblical, will play into Dows sweet spot - inside clearance specialist.

I cant really remember him passing with zero pressure are you sure? The heat has been on in most of his games and he's a clearance winner not a receiver to be getting the ball in space with no pressure. He simply hasn't had the luxury. It has rarely happened. Stats can be extremely misleading, disposal effiiciency is probably the most misleading out of them all. I call BS. If bhis kicking or his awareness for that matter was poor, he wouldn't have stood up in the big games and he wouldn't be getting a game now.

'I've seen him hit many a pass lace out under pressure.' Which is complete rubbish but very easy to say.
