Marchbank in is clearly tactical

Weitering will get the deeper forward of Amartey or McLean, Kemp the other.Marchbank to McDonald, Gov to Heeney

Saad, Newman, Cincotta will match up on the rest

There will be times where Acres or Doc will push deeper defensively

Forward and midfield I like our matchups
Mostly agree
Weitering - deepest
Kemp - other
Marchbank - McDonald
Newman - Papley
Cincotta - Heeney
I like McGovern being able to play more aggressively.

"We're too tall!"

"Fogarty over Motlop??"

You're answering your own questions there. Don't agree with Pittonet over playing Dow and making the 2nd ruck role work, but at least we acknowledge there's going to be a significant drop in forward and midfield pressure if we opt for Motlop over Fogarty too, with the latter primed to make a strong midfield contribution.

Cuningham over Motlop reflects the former's stoppage ability and body strength, while seeing the difference in scoring potential as minimal. I couldn't help but notice how hard our pressure dropped off when it was both Owies and Motlop without Fogarty, and Cuningham playing through a few niggles. Pittonet selection exacerbates the issue.

At the other end, Marchbank is the better choice of 7th defender between dealing with 3 talls and 2 medium forwards, plus the alternatives of Boyd's limited rebound & chase down ability, and Fisher's inability to impact an opponent.

I personally would have rolled the dice by dropping Marchbank, keeping Dow, using Hollands instead of Pittonet, putting Docherty in a defensive sweep rotation with Walsh, Hollands, and Acres, but I guess we'll see how we're prepared to corral and absorb Sydney's counter attack.

I hope what plans we have work, but I also hope we have a very different plan for Melbourne. Really disappointed for Dow, who I think has the skillset to tear a final apart.

Watching tonights game, the 2 most dangerous forwards in this game are small forwards.

I cant see the logic in leaving Motlop out.
And no forward on the ground that can hold a candle to curnow or McKay.

Smash them in the contest and let Charlie and H earn their money…how finals have been won forever.

Let’s go Blues!

Very surprised with a few of the calls, Motlop was playing very well when he went down sick, I’m surprised that he didn’t replace Durdin, as easy like for like swap.

Dow missing is normal, he’s been playing due to injuries and when fit he’s on the fringes of the team, i would hope he is sub, to inject more midfield options.

As someone else mentioned, a ruck and a key defender on the bench is a big concern.

Depending on conditions, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Marchy go out and a smaller player come in late.

off the dees board (8pm)

"Game over at 1/4 time and we are looking at Brayshaw and JVR out next week. Going to be back to back straight sets but hey we extended the coach again great stuff".

Motlop missing is atrocious in these conditions. Even Dow should be in. Fisher goes missing in the wet so understandable. I’d not be playing marchbank. We are +60 cm across the board which is on average 3cm per player with the ball on the deck for most of the game.
Good sounds like we are bigger and stronger than them in conditions speed doesn't matter as much. Bring it the **** on.

Can’t agree. Voss has this pretty right.
Your right
How can Marchbank be in competition with motley. Holland or Dow. He is a defender, if he doesn't play then Fisher does.

In effect Marchbank comes into the side for Fisher, Doc replaces Hollands, Cripps replaces Dow. The only real structural change is pitto replacing Durdin but we know Vossy clearly likes to play 2 rucks whenever he can.

I'm sure that they'll have another look at how the weather and ground look tomorrow.
what are you on about dude … I said I prefer a runner over Marchbank and you come back with , they are not like for like so who is pitto like for like … want my honest opinion Marchbank has been crap so I prefer Dow , Hols or Motlop … we are too tall and I don’t trust Marchbank

[2] Paddy Dow,[3] Jesse Motlop,[14] Oliver Hollands,[25] Zac Fisher

These 4 emergencies were vital in our winning streak and are all runners. Shocked
So were Cripps Hewett Fogarty cuningham and Docherty. Hewett is more experienced polished and stronger than Dow. Fogarty and cuningham are more consistent and better defensively than motlop. Holland's is a rookie and dochs back. I'm not picking Holland's over Cotts or doch. Fisher in defense in a final? Hell no.

Don't see anything to be shocked about.

When you line up his form with someone like a Cunningham it makes zero sense.
Cunners has been better. Simple. Plus cunners plays a different role to motlop and does more than mots is capable of. Cunners has more contested and ground ball to his game. He's a better midfield rotation and a better marking option.

Motlop is competing with owies.

"It felt like Viney’s worst game of the year as well. Totally off his tucker. I don’t like our chances against Carlton. At all".

A few here getting somewhat ahead of the game. We beat Swans tomorrow, that's a successful year, kpi's met! Then anything else is a bonus.
Reckon Melbourne are very beatable.
Interstate Prelim might be a bridge too far. But you never know do you?
Enjoy the ride Baggers!
I still have two tickets (1 concession, 1 adult) for tomorrow which I cannot use, for cost or best offer...
