Essendon at Marvel, any chance the one time we play them it could be here.
It's a shit fixture, not only are we everywhere we've also got shit timeslots and a bad start in terms of match ups to start the season.

On the bright side at least the Pear have copped a tough fixture. Although Ken leaving will be sad, the tears of Rucci and Kane should warm the heart.
Usually the case, but we really should have beaten them at ao this year. We outplayed them for most of the game.

Actually a good fixture for this point of a rebuild where you wouldn't say finals are expected. If Nicks and co. have rebuilt in a manner that should hold up long term, they should get through this.

It’s a shit fixture but as far as having the extra top 4 double up than the formula suggests- that formula was based on 1 less double up
So I think the old formula was 1 top 6 double up, 2 from next and 2 bottom 6. But 6 double ups now means each team perhaps has 2 from each portion?
Will be interesting to see a breakdown of all double-ups to see if a new formula exists or just random use of the extra double up

So I’ve finally done it
.But the answer to your question yes.
Not sure if gather round changed things.
We don't deserve great time slots, true, however us making a grand final the previous year barely gets us a Carton scraped in to the 8 the previous year fixture anyway.
We'd have to be a top 4 side to get maybe 1 or 2 Friday nights against a Victorian club and a handful of Saturday night Foxtel games.
I get why they do it to us from a commercial point of view but does get annoying, big enough to survive a and do well with a crappy fixture, not big enough to demand a better one.
Don't have the possibility to get 80,000 to a home game if the AFL were to give us the big match up in the right time slot.
Also don't like that we have to go on the regional tour of the country as usual, yeah we're not great so don't deserve any favours, I just don't like that clubs can sell games, make us go to who knows where, out supporters travel, while they get the cash.
Especially when we can't do it and still get our full amount of games in Adelaide.
I bet the AFL wouldn't let us but home games like Port essentially did for China either.
I'd be interested to know what our big request was this year and if we managed to get it?
We've always been told the club fights for one or two rounds and for us that was Indigenous Round while Port always requested ANZAC round.
Now that Indigenous Round is everyone gets a turn, we couldn't even secure a good time slot for our week at home?
So we either failed or used our request on something else, what was it?

Well eventually we have to win there don’t we?
In the first 15 games, we have one game nationally on 7 (which is the gather round game) and all the rest on Fox.

We got West Coast and GWS twice - both teams we have recently struggled against but I’m betting things change next year. Both on the way down with GWS losing more midfielders.

I have us finishing 10-12
I dont see it that way at all I do not expect us to beat gws. west coast sure but we should have been given a double up with north or hawks

We have double ups against North in both 2021 and 2022. So not surprising it changed.

West Coast had a ton of injuries to key players and have only added quality to their squad at the draft. They also have a great coach. I suspect they were deliberately tanking. Probably not finalists but will not be a spoon contender.
GWS will benefit from a new coach. Cameron lost the players and was just bog average. They still have a good squad so if the new coach can get them in sync they will go well past us with ease
