Can we stop fuelling the "we finished third" mantra as justification for anything? Spoiler alert - we didn't, and even if we had have, it's still a fail...
100% agree with this. 3rd means jack. It means you want a good lane. It's like draft night and the trade table. It sets up a minor round, which sets up the real deal. Our club needs to get back to thinking that our season starts in September. Anything other than that isn't success. It's development at best. Our minor round performances have actually been made WORSE because of our lack of success in the finals. The crux of our issue is that the club sees our performances as 'so close'. We're not lucky to be there, it should be the first bloody line in our mission statement.

Being 3rd after the Minor Round has finished is really, really good.

It is quite a good accomplishment.

Except when you'd been sitting top two for most of the year, and then dropped your bundle after DD got re-signed.

Since the closing down of the sack……thread imo the port adelaide forum has become a lot more football orientated and allowing more voices to be read.
The sack thread is well and truly still alive.

In my scientific view, Ollie Wines' knee is slowly morphing into the face of Ken Hinkley - ala the face of evil villain 'Voldemort' being attached to the head of his ever-faithful servant 'Professor Quirrell' in the 2001 masterpiece 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' starring Verne Troyer. Therefore, it is highly likely that the Port Adelaide Football Club will one day be killed and drained of its remaining funds in much the same way that the Professor Quirrell and Voldemort hybrid murdered a majestic unicorn and drank its sweet, sweet blood.

Gotta manage your players properly such that you have your best team fit for finals, or great depth to cover. GWS were so good in finals last year because they actually had their entire team at full fitness - as opposed to playing the likes of Charlie, McKenzie, Lycett etc under duress.

This is partly a Ken issue (gotta rest players more), partly a depth issue (needed a KPD so we weren't reliant on McKenzie), partly an issue that our gameplan has been too taxing on our players.

Get back to easy footy where we can get wins by establishing a big lead and then coasting and we'll be in much better shape come finals time. The hawks game was a good example, I don't care if we dont win by as much as we could if we reduce the load on our players.

Ratugolea’s been impressive. There’s a drill where the ball is kicked long to the goal square to a contest between a tall defender and tall forward. Ratugolea hasn’t been beaten in a contest. In fact he’s out marked his opponent, including Dixon, a few times. Also his recovery when the ball hits the ground is impressive.

Not surprised he's touching up Dixon.

Kick it long on top of Dixons head gameplan confirmed.
