Although we need to ditch the coach and Chairman, this off season will be super important.

Does the coaching staff double down on the likes of Lycett, McEntee, McKenzie, Dixon, etc.
Do players out of form get a rocket with young guys coming into to take their spots.

Lycett looks to be gone.
Hayes probably gone.
Teakle should be gone.

Boak looks gone.
Clurey looks gone.

McEntee is useless and will struggle for games next year.
McKenzie is old and useless and will struggle for games next year.
Even Dixon might be struggling for games next year

Byrne-Jones will have to find a way to impact.
Duursma struggling for form. Has a bit of runs on the board.
Wines not holding form but has some runs on the board.

Dumont gone.
Fantasia gone to Nonna.
Bonner possibly traded.

That's a boatload of turnover.

Looking to come in.

Jordon Sweet
Esava Ratugolea
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher

And then the young guys:

Hugh Jackson - for Boak
Josh Sinn - wing
Jase Burgyone - wing
Jackson Mead - get him in the guts
Francis Evans - up forward
Quinton Narkle - wherever

Huge off season.

Mods merging my pre season thread with another one and giving it a shit meme another year makes me wish that hinkley stays here for another decade so you get what you deserve

Great thread title, there is no way in hell any other pre-season thread properly takes off without having this name lol. Someone woulda just made it anyway.

Josh Sinn will be ready from minute 1

Oh good. That's exactly the sort of hard hitting news I need to get me juiced up for next season.

and we go into next year with no draft picks of consequence and linked to three players who are currently mediocre at best. Our midfield looks like it needs some major additions to go with the rest of our list.
Meanwhile GWS enter the period with a #1 pick in the stands and 2 first rounders in the draft.

We're up against it to keep the quality of our list up to the standard of those like GWS.

So have any of our players started to return to the track early?

Seeing a number of clubs are already getting back into it. Seems all is quiet on our end.
Shhhh, it's bunker time.

Have seen some pics of many of the players doing workouts. Trav doing them in the UK seems to be good mates with Petracca, was in Austria last time I looked. Finlayson was doing some running in Tanzania before going off grid on safari. Lord, Williams in the gym. Rioli running laps. I'm sure they're all working away. As we got to semi weekend, we'll start a few weeks later than the rest with full scale training.

Hamish Hartlett has come back early, tearing up the track, reckon he's in for a huge season in the midfield next year.

It is hard to get your gallop up when Kenny Average is coaching the team but with a lot of negativity and rightly so given results and more importantly, methodology, I thought I would write a few things that I am excited about or would like to see in the preseason.

I would love to see the young guys starting to put claims in with their hard work. I am looking at Ollie Lord, Jase Burgoyne, Josh Sinn and Hugh Jackson. Even Jackson Mead. Those types of players who have had limited opportunities or none at all and I'd just love to hear them training the house down and really showing their wares for AFL or dominating SANFL.

Hopefully the midfield and ruck situation sorts itself out and we have Soldo or Sweet playing well with Rozee and Butters playing at an AA level, Horne-Francis is ready for a huge preseason and could dominate next year. Drew and Wines down the pecking order of the midfield with Hugh Jackson, Jackson Mead or Miles Bergman getting some midfield minutes. Can Powell-Pepper get some minutes in their as well. Just a basic gelling and synergy of ruck, mids and wings would be great this year.

Can we sort out the wing this year? It was not the best last year. Bergman, Burgoyne, Narkle, Sinn, Farrell, Lachie Jones. Who knows? Bergman would give one wing some real stability but I feel he is destined for bigger things. I would love to see Burgoyne or Sinn get some real time on the wings for the whole year and see what they can do. We really need to see what Sinn has got. Play him for the entire year. See whether he can break the lines as we could do with another player like that.

Guys who could take the next step into the stratosphere. Jason Horne-Francis and Miles Bergman have played great footy but will be looking to tear the competition a new one. Kinda like what Butters did last year. We knew Butters was good but not this bloody good.

How does the backline look next year with KPDs who are tall and have good age profiles. Esava has all the tools to get a great defender, he just needs some time learning the craft. When you watch his highlights, Esava can go with any big forward. I think Zerk-Thatcher will benefit greatly playing 3rd tall and Aliir will get some much needed partners in defence which should help him out a lot as well. It might take a while but it is pretty exciting to sure up those holes in the off season. From what I've seen, all 3 of them can intercept as well. If we get on top, I think they can regulate the backline very well.

How about those guys with great physical gifts like Lachie Jones and Mitch? Can they get some real consistent form? How will Georgiades come back into the side. He is so athletic but coming back from the ACL. Jones has the tools for a great one on one defender who can run off his man. Can he add that string to his bow this year.

Can the 3 young talls we took last year in the draft show some real potential?

Hope Springs Eternal... in November.

I don't agree that our midfield needs addition, think it just needs a bit of time. Drew (24), Rozee & Butters (23) and JHF (19) is still extremely young for a midfield brigade. If Wines can have a good pre-season and get some form back next year, will be a massive boost.

However, if your point is correct it raises the serious question of whether Rozee and/or Butters aren't up to being full-time mids (either in isolation, or just have overlapping deficiencies and can't play there together) and we should trade one out while they have max value.
