List Mgmt. 2023 List Management and Trading (Part 2)

Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Wait I'm confused, they traded Pick 4 for those picks.

Unless I am missing something how are they getting three players for only a 2nd round picks when they've already given up Pick 4?
They will on trade pick 10 for more picks and already had a ton of picks they organised last year.

Crows to receive End-of-Round-1 pick as compensation for Doedee going to Brisbane - locked in by the AFL.
Currently Pick #19
Not bad compo for a 26yo that has played 62 games in 5 years and done 2 ACL's. I can live with that.

One thing I am not 100% certain on

Has it been 2 ACL injuries or 3? I don't know where I remember it from, but I seem to have this memory in the back of my mind that he'd done an ACL when he was younger.

I could be wrong though

Giving Pick 5 to geelong last year already proved they are a bunch of fxxk idiots!..

Their rushing this just makes me think they dont understand the art of the deal!
Apparently they want to on trade 10 and/or 17. Can't do that until first trade is done

Lol, they would have been talking to every club for weeks.

They just got the deal of a lifetime - three firsts for pick 4!

They did it early so they can ontrade 10 and maybe 17 to get more points.

Whoever they have there now is doing a great job. Just don't let them talk to Geelong.
The Geelong, AFL house manipulation last year just stink imo.
Corruption.

Can't find anything online about a 3rd ACL.

He missed lots of footy with a bad hamstring tear in 2020, maybe you're thinking about that?
And pre-Crows... he missed a block of footy at the Geelong Falcons in 2015 due to injury as well. Not specified what for.

So Port trade out their 2024 first round pick for pick 23 and Fremantle's future second? That sounds like a terrible deal. Port are obviously assuming they're going to be top 4 again next year!

That will make it three years in a row that Port don't have a first round selection, unless they bring one back in somewhere.
As far as the rule goes, I believe JHF counts as a first round pick given his age

Justin Reid was just on AFL Trade Radio - short interview on Tiktok and other social media
A. Tom Doedee paperwork is done with Brisbane. Pick #19 compo
B. Clayton Oliver interest didn't go that far. After a couple days of discussion, it all moved on pretty quickly.
C. Still keen to keep Shane McAdam.
D. Chris Burgess from GCS, working on that with Gold Coast. Will give us some depth & versatility with height
E. Elliot Himmelberg contracted, keen for him to stay, open mind etc if there is some other tall forward solution coming in
F. Gold Coast in discussion with Adelaide about Pick upgrades

The team making out like bandits is Gold Coast?? Because they are getting 3 first round academy picks and they will only pay for it using 2nd rounders plus banked picks next year already.

Bulldogs massively overpaid
First time in their history that GC have won a trade and they've had a massive win there, all the risk is with the Dogs.

GC can now get good returns for pick 10 and 17, garner enough points for academy matching and further bolster their 2024 draft hand. Hardwick can't believe his luck!

We need to be in for pick 10 given our plethora of compo and R2 picks. Maximise now!

Pretty sure given what Cameron said for GC that pick 10 (11) is a good as the Crows after pick & player swaps.

Wonder also given Reid’s posturing on Himmelberg and the GWS list guy still saying they’re still really keen on a deal being completed if they’re wanting GWS to get ridiculously desperate and go overs & offer up their pick 15 (16) as part of the deal for Himmelberg + a future 3rd.

Would then have 10, 11, 16, 20. Possibly using 2 of those picks to go further into the top 10.

When did he say that?

Can I ask... who would the Crows be selecting at #10 that we can't get at 19+?
Because I'm not seeing a lot of Sth Aussies in the draft before #19 based on the google searches of recently published top prospect lists.

If we still hold a strong hand this year and can strengthen next years hand (assuming we have exhausted all trade options for an A Grade mid this year), then we should be doing that. Look at GC this year - there is no reason they should be any less over the barrel than we will be next year re academy / f/s affecting our 1st(s) - so if we can't trade up, then trading out next year should net us an absolute premium if its a top 10 pick per chance in a draft supposedly very strong with midfielders.
Gold Coast just traded out pick 4 for a future pick 10 and points. That feels pretty over he barrell to me.

They could be but I think its unlikely. If they lose Wines then their mid-line looks weaker. Dixon is beyond cooked but will take (at a minimum) the 2nd best defender

Rozee and Butters will only be better - I think Port might get at best 4th (with everything falling their way) but could end up between that and that 10-12 bracket

Bwahahahaha. No way a first round pick for himm is involved.

if a pick in the 30’s is involved, we can treat that as a miracle.

Our Himmelberg and pick 15 would never be mentioned in the same conversation!
Usually absolutely but GWS sound like they are really ridiculously desperate for him and already have a number of first round picks on the list and still have pick 6 (7) to use, it’s unlikely but he’s their only target this year they might just be tempted enough to do it so they get the deal done

They've changed the rules now. We can even draft West Australians and Victorians

In GC's favor!!

Pick 4 and some 3rds becomes 10, 17 & F1..GC make out like Bandits. Maybe that applies to us next year if the 1st round of the draft is strong and teams are keen to trade into it.
10 and 17 get swallowed up with matching bids (more realisticlly swapped for sencond rounders for points).

The really only keep the future first.
