Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

Bwahahahaha. No way a first round pick for himm is involved.

if a pick in the 30’s is involved, we can treat that as a miracle.
I’d usually be saying the same thing but like I said they have been really one-eyed in identifying they specifically want him and he wants to go there which GWS sometimes struggle to convince players to do, so they might even trade it back a little but I would think if they want Himmelberg that 1st round pick will be involved as they don’t have another pick until 40 odd with Flynn’s compensation

Why does everyone think Bulldogs paid 3 firsts for Pick 4 (plus scraps)? According to the AFL site, Bulldogs get GC's future first as well.
link please??? I didn't see that.

Its wrong..

It is 10, 17 and f1 for 4, 46 and 51 (the last two picks being junk but they may be able to use them for croft if they get desperate)

Bulldogs trade their two first-round picks this season – No.10 and 17 – as well as their first-round pick in 2024 in exchange for the Suns' pick No.4.

INDICATIVE DRAFT ORDER Check out your club's picks

The Suns have also traded the Bulldogs their third-round picks this year – No.46 and 51, both bumped back a spot by the Tom Doedee compensation pick – to ensure the Dogs have extra points to match a bid for father-son talent Jordan Croft,

Gold Coast in: 10, 17, WB F1
Gold Coast out: 4, 46, 51, GCS F3

Gold Coast's future first isn't involved.
AFL Draft Tracker is wrong

Hi knowledgeable peoples.

I thought you could only take in the number of picks to the draft table that you had vacancies on your list? Wasn't that brought in to stop the stockpiling of a heap of lowly picks to match a bid up high? So how's this all gonna work for these clubs swapping out a low pick for a bunch of seconds / thirds?

How many players do we think we will be drafting in 2023?

If we have 9 - 19 - 22 - 25 already, plus something for McAdam, could we be gunning for Pick 5 from Melbourne? Or with our F1, maybe higher?

Yes, it was. However, don't forget that clubs can go with 38/4, 37/5, or 36/6 list structures, and they can go into the ND with picks for those extra positions (which they ultimately fill via the RD).

I'd be moderately surprised if we select more than 2 in the ND. Maybe 3 at the outside.

Possible, but doubtful. We're more likely to be trying to trade any excess picks (of value) into the 2024 draft.

** My opinions only.

Rozee and Butters will only be better - I think Port might get at best 4th (with everything falling their way) but could end up between that and that 10-12 bracket

People say Rozee and Butters will get better but will they? All players have a ceiling. They are already elite players and both played nearly every game in 2023. I think at best they improve slightly or maintain their current output.

JHF obviously has scope to improve but I think most of their improvement needs to come from outside their best players.

I tend to agree

Butters was one of the favourites for the Brownlow, that suggests that his output this year was exceptional.

He's not always going to be at level every season and I actually think that players now normally debut and play much younger than they used to and are hitting their ceiling at around 23-25 years old so I think he's most probably close to his ceiling.
