Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

And we are going to have to offer more than just the Henry pick and 22 to get those picks from GC, need to add our later picks 40, 53, 58 as well. Which we can do if we’re only taking 2 players in the national draft.
I'm fine with that. It's not like GC can use pick 10 or 17 though. I suspect we'll need to trade some future picks to get one of them.

GC gonna start stockpiling a stupid amount of future pick value.

Annoyingly, I think any trades for 10 and 17 are possibly going to be draft night trades to maximise the picks they can take in

Can guarantee he won't walk to the saints. North and Hawks would pounce. And we can just pick him up again and make them pay up the next year.
Even if Hawks and Norf pass, he’s not getting past Essendon or Tigers, they both have pick before Saints

Basically, the goal is to use Henry and 22 to get pick 10 or 17 from GC
Hopefully we are not trying to get into the first round just for the sake of it. I am not a recruiter but I don't see any talent in that range that is worth trading up for. All the exciting talent is locked up in the top 5. The back end of the first round also looks like a gold mine so surely it would make sense to aim for a few second round picks.

If there's someone they want, I'll back em in. Must be a group there they prefer to pick 22 onwards. Chris25 was right in his assessment we actually have very little HBF, could well be Hardeman

Hamling in talks for a 1 year contract confirmed

Won't be rookies, so we have some picks to get rid of

No veterans list unfortunately
I can confirm that Hamling has been talking to Sydney. 1 year contract from us may not be enough to keep him.

Idk how much I'd read into that. Hard for us to talk about him when Gold Coast haven't announced what's happening with him.
Given Charlie Constable has apparently retired I'd say an initial announcement isn't far away tbh.

I'd say Constable and a few of the mature aged rookies Gold Coast drafted would've been delisted in the first announcement. I'd say that Constable decided to retire instead.

I wouldn't expect Sharp to be delisted but they may announce he's requested a trade.

If there's 1 player that such a trade would make the most sense for, it'd unironically be Collard. If he's as "WA or bust" as it seems and we really like him as a player, then trading specifically to get ahead of West Coast's 2nd pick actually makes a ton of sense.

Otherwise, while I generally agree that trading up seems weird coz the draft pool seems fairly even from 15 to like 35, the players most likely to be at the top of that tier will probably be the ones who impress most at the combine. Those superior natural athletes probably fit our list needs most. My fellow PS1 gamers might appreciate this one, coz we'll be in a Hot Pursuit for our Need for Speed.

Billings is apparently available from the Saints. I wonder would be look at a fresh start in Perth and a place on our wing to add a bit of class? We might be able to get him as part of the Henry deal and get better overall value for Henry.
That's got to be worth a question surely. I'd rather him than Sharp

According to someone (can't find the link) Darcy to North is unlikely but there are other clubs that are interested. I don't know what that means but I think North is out of the equation at least. No idea if any of the other interest is this year or as a FA.

Also North board reporting that Ralph saying pick 3 for McKay is unlikely. That would be AMAZING because then Dodo would be trading for him. I want this more than a good pick for Henry, would definitely go to the last day.

I'll keep saying it but Brisbane made a killing off turning injury prone players into iron men, time for The Merryman to really earn his keep
Lincoln McCarthy's run since joining them has been nuts. Barely missed a game for them after barely playing at Geelong due to constant injuries.
