Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

******* thanks a lot, now I went back to the North thread and read that we would accept Darcy and 41 for 10 and 37 and I'm ready to blow up again
Haven’t looked at the north board all season and it sounds like my blood pressure is better off for it.
For a small club they have a massive amount of fans on big footy though

What's the status of Will Brodie and his playing prospects at Fremantle?

Can see us being interested as a replacement for Taylor Adams and eventually Tom Mitchell. We could probably also hand over a strong draft pick if you chip in a percentage of his salary.
Will Brodie should play alot more next year, they were just rebuilding his game and the muscle places. Also had an ankle problem. Hopefully will be a big part of the dockers next year.

Won't be going anywhere. I don't think anyway.

heh I’d just keep Allan.
Yeah but if we gave them Brodie and an early second rounder (I'm not good with picks) both parties win? For what it's worth Allan is very highly rated on their board so I doubt we will ever get him. Fk the AFL for not giving us access to him.

I'd argue that Freo have one of the slowest midfield group in the game.

"One thing about Collingwood is...they are very specific with how they balance their midfield, they don't carry too many slow midfielders." - Phil Davis

Middle of the pack, especially when Switta goes through there.

Could definitely use more pace but that applies to many teams.

Just looked at our round 24 team and we don’t have a lot of midfield depth. from that team Henry will go and we were only missing Brodie, JoM and Fyfe. (Maybe unicorn will play midfield with Darcy in the side?)

and we were playing all of Johnson, worner, Emmett and Ras (sub). Really need someone to replace Henry plus ideally 2 of the others.

oh, NoD and Chappy missing too (is Chappy a mid??)

Chappys a defender. But they said they want him on a wing.

Johnson would be the one I reckon that could be that, plus the size to boot. Stanley for the long term, he has that explosiveness but is a couple of pre seasons away from showing us
Oh yeah, Johnno's gonna be a gun. But Brodie might be the big bodied midfielder until than.

Yeah I mean Collingwood have Titchell who is a slug, Adams who is mediocore and Pendles who is a very evasive slug.

But I think the actual difference is that you look at players like De Goey, Crisp and Naicos who are all a) fast and b) very good to elite midfielders. Think about Shuey the shoe in 2018 as well.

The problem is that our players who are actually good midfielders you wouldn't classify as fast. Yeah you can throw Switta in there as genuinely fast but he's not really also a good full time mid is he.

So ultimately yes I agree, they do balance their midfield very well in that they only really have one of the slugs in there at once with two other quick players. We run a 2 slug centre bounce group a fair amount of the time.

Really fixing that a lot is on the shoulders of Johnson/Erasmus/Young. One reason why I think we have no business playing Fyfe in the midfield next year, problem is you can't play him anywhere else.

Jack Crisp - possibly the fastest midfielder in the comp when he gets on a run.
I’ll never forget last year in the final we played them in, him bursting out of the middle into our F50 at one point with Michael Frederick at full pelt behind him and crisp was bouncing the footy and still pulling away with ease from Freddy, who is arguably the fastest player on our list.

We have no comparable player in our midfield rotations.
There are not many burst mids that are around though. Chad Warner from Sydney is a WA option that would add nicely to our rotation in there but he’s got his own limitations and is not near the likes of Crisp or Degoey.

Fyfe could play half back, if Hughes can play that position why not Nat?
Fyfe could also rotate with Young.
JOM and Erasmus rotate mid/forward.
We just rotate them to the bench.

I think I read the other day that he played mid at WP. Which surprised me because I thought it was just something we were going to just try and develop him for.

From the Walls interview it sounds like St Kilda have a player we want. Billing 's is the obvious one. Gresham we were interested in but it wasn't reciprocated. Not sure who else.
