Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Will Brodie should play alot more next year, they were just rebuilding his game and the muscle places. Also had an ankle problem. Hopefully will be a big part of the dockers next year.

Won't be going anywhere. I don't think anyway.
I was disappointed with him in the peel final. Looked disinterested.

I thought similar. I imagine he is probably pretty frustrated. Last year would’ve been a fairytale for him, everything came crashing back to earth this season.

I’m still a huge fan and hope to see him play many more games in purple. It’s just confusing to me where he fits with JOM, Fyfe apparently returning to the midfield, Ras & Johnno developing into mids. Then obviously Brayshaw and Serong as our untouchables.

The David Walls interview is on Youtube if anyone wants to see it.

Hahaha
I’ve often wonders why Wallsy never appears on cal Twomeys pod. Now I know.

Those savvy media guys would run rings around him, he basically gave away freos entire plan this trade period to some kid asking prescripted questions 😂😂

Much prefer see Bell on trade radio now though than wallsy, he says far too much.

On the plus side it’s a pretty good plan from our POV.
I’m not convinced Sharp is coming at all after listening to that. He might just be delisted by GC and not get a gig anywhere

I’d rather see Switta completely replaced as a small forward with a better actual forward.
He should go into the midfield rotations and fight for his spot. If he’s good enough to take a spot there he plays as a mid.
Hear hear,
I’d like to see Emmet push to take his spot. Can’t see it happening being in the LS group and all. But some pressure for the high hf role is something we’ve lacked.

Or was he sand bagging 😂

I think I read the other day that he played mid at WP. Which surprised me because I thought it was just something we were going to just try and develop him for.

He played at EF, but you’re right JLo has commented several times that he sees him as a mid option and he has a few runs through there (not ruck) this season

They didn’t talk about any players coming in, JL said a month ago they’d look at sharp again, maybe don’t want to give away their hand before talking to suns. Talk it up suns might ask for more

I didn’t think Walls gave much away at all. He responded to questions. Said they will be not greatly active in trade period - except bring a player in potentially via the trade of Henry. Doesn’t mean a Saints player. He also said that they would like to move our first pick up the draft order to the back end of the first round (because they don’t have anything really enticing to tempt GC for pick 4/5). They way I read that is that they just want to get into the first round if possible so they have flexibility to trade a couple of first rounders in 2024. Best to put that on the table so clubs with a teens pick come to us or are well aware that we are keen to get into the first round.

That’s a good shout on the club wanting flexibility to trade first rounders next season. If we were looking to get McDonald I reckon we would be a real chance to get an exemption from the AFL even if we don’t use a first rounder this season. With the amount of high end draft picks under 24 on our list as well targeting a young key forward with the picks, would fit all the criteria for an exemption.

Tbh this talk of moving up to gc pick might include the sharp trade

Think we are gonna overpay for sharp to get us in the door for pick 10

Something like Henry compo, 22, 40 and maybe a future pick for pick 10 and sharp
We need to be drafting on a needs basis now and not best available. There are no absolute needs around pick 10 (pick 12 on the night). If you trade out 22 and 40, you will lose access to Collard.

I think you might be surprised at Watson sliding that far.

I'm of a different opinion I guess

No point drafting bulk players, we need elite talent to displace players now

It's why I'd rather chase McDonald and was happy chasing Jackson

Who would you pick at that range?

I agree about drafting for needs. We need our Walters replacement. We saw the damage a Bobby Hill and Cameron can do on the weekend to make something from nothing when the defense is strong. We have the forwards for when things are going our way. We need one that can turn the tide when it isn't. Collingwood does, so does Brisbane, GWS, Melbourne. I'd prefer drafting for that than just another potential low 1st round mid that may get a game in 3 or 4 years.

I'm not going to be surprised if Watson is picked top five, I also won't be surprised if he is picked in the 12 to 15 range. If he were a hand taller he would go top four but he is quite small.
GWS will love some cream with where their list is at, has to be Watson for them surely
