Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Yes but it was on there for a good 30 mins between being posted on the dogs board and someone mentioning it on here. Yet he only posted on twitter 5 minutes after it was mentioned on here. Coincidence? Maybe
Yeah yeah we all know it's you ;)

Imagine how fun that would be though. Piggyback off a rumour that's already got legs on bigfooty and then suddenly you've got credibility because you dropped the rumour on twitter before it became official and then you can post the most out of pocket trade rumours and get people really stressed out.

You all saying we don't need Hamling, but I would definitely keep him on our list as an insurance policy.
There's no guarantee that Pearce (with his history) may go down for a lengthy period with injury.
He would fit right in seamlessly, if anything ,I think his form of late was getting back to his best from the past.
Finally over his nagging injuries, maybe even better than Alex whose form has really deteriorated of late.

Would actually say Hamling is back or close to career best form. He’s moving really well, barely got out marked/out matched for Peel to then come in for Fremantle and do a solid job. It’s just a Cox/Pearce preference blocking him full time AFL.

Be very interested to know whether the coaches actually spoke about Cox forward at all prior to the big contract extension. He would probably wanted guaranteed defence.

You guys notice Colin Young has been quiet lately. Andrew McDougall has been doing all the radio/podcast interviews about Corporate Sports players.

Colin Young’s name is toxic now. He can’t attract good WA draftees anymore. Pissing off Freo must of scared off all the parents.

Don’t think many have said dont need him.

think the club is doing the right thing, can’t offer him more then a 1 year deal with his history.

As I said yesterday, Hamling leaving is a good thing for the dockers as it helps free up a list spot to be used on someone else.
Strong chance hamling would not play a single game next year if he stayed.

If we can somehow jag pick 45 as compo, it becomes a great deal for us. I believe the AFL will screw us here though.

There’s about 5 players contracted for next year that I would instantly delist ahead of Hamling but that’s the clubs own fault for giving them stupid deals they should never have gotten.

So letting Joel go is a necessary if annoying step to help limit some of the damage from that.

I know one potential draft prospect about 9 months ago Colin Young come a knocking and his parents were very vocal in letting Colin Young know to keep on walking.

Anyone who wanted the trade documentary on Stan would stay away from Colin. He comes across as a complete buffoon the other player agents treat with contempt.

Given how tight we are on list spots that is the biggest benefit, still would have loved one more year from him to bridge a bit of a gap.

I don't think it's the AFL screwing us though, a 2 year contract for a 31 year old would need to be quite high to trigger compensation based on previous examples.
I gave 3 of the closest examples I could find that resulted in no compensation, with the only outlier being Isaac Smith.
There is still a chance given the KPD demand, and increased salaries, but I wouldn't be counting on it.

A quote from a previous 2 year contract for a key defender;
"The AFL said that the 27-year-old's age and length of contract were the reasons behind no compensation being awarded."

You are looking at it in a list management perspective. Myself and others are looking at the 22 if Cox/Pearce go down. It’s more experience lost which the club openly didn’t want this off season.

Bell & Walls have a little work to do now. Earn their keep.

As much as I don't think there's anyone as good as Hamling in the state leagues I very much doubt there isn't anyone aged between say 21 and 28 on the state leagues that couldn't do Hamling's likely role (probably 5-10 games) for us next season.

Interested in what happens with Doedee situation tbh. Brisbane drafted Joyce as a KPD in the SPP. I suspect he gets delisted if they get Doedee. We could do far worse.
