Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Why do we over pay for average players?

Omeara already looks a mistake, and does not fill a need
Jackson we paid too much, does not fill a need
Lobb was brought in when we were middle of a rebuild
Hogan was a pure disaster
Why do we continue to burn draft picks for players that either don't fill a need, or when we should be rebuilding

Because the people making the decisions are dumb ****s?

Noone who would want to come here

our cap is tight, the only way you recruit forwards is by either throwing overs $$ or being a good team, we have neither for them

Why do we continuously shortchange our own players at contract time. Grass is not always greener on the other side.

Acres, Logue (coulda locked him away before monster north offer), Lachie Neale coulda been locked away after his front end years. He had clearly outgrown his renumeration at that point.

People have been bagging Acres saying he should have taken freos performance based contract. Ridiculous, he was never going to take that.
 
I dont see a path to a flag.

We will either need to hit free agency or pull a good player from deep in draft.

We have no talent in our forward line, and even if we did we wouldn’t pick them

Wtf can't we commit to a rebuild. We just trade away draft picks for spuds, and this ****s up our next 10 plus years

Just can't get over how this guy refused to drafted forwards and instead sold the farm for two of them, only for both of them to leave before either of their contracts were up.

The most promising looking forward we've drafted since the start of this rebuild quickly became a permanent defender since there was clearly no need for him in the forward line with Lobb and Hogan. Meant our highest pick in the draft of the start of our rebuild waltzed out for a pick in the 20s. Shithouse list management all around.

And what should have been a good return for list management in 2019 when we turned Hill into Acres + Serong turned to shit because we were happy to let Acres walk for absolute **** all after he finally started showing good.

Can't agree with this, our list is loaded with talent tbh


The problem is we just can't expect it all to click as they mature, someone needs to get something out of them, for whatever reason we have failed that this year, may need an outsider to come in and review what's gone wrong this year

Not once not ONCE did Jl persist with two rucks last season or the season before with Meek/Darcy.
Instead go all in for Jackson, who’s not a need with three picks, and trade Meek for JOM- who’s also not a need. That’s atrocious trading. Inexcusable.
1-3 and suddenly looking at a shite draft hand.
Now Johnson will replace JOM anyway.

Meek is adequate for Darcy, and have three picks to go after needs not some unicorn hype that’s been home sick.
Bell should go for that alone

In the forward half?
No outside mids with class
No small forwards with class, and none who have multiple strings. Looking a parley, he is good on lead, good crumbing forward and good pressure.

Too many inside mids

It is too soon to tell with Jackson but like usual though our team is never ready all at once.

Omeara makes no sense, either does Jackson.

We don't need players who play that role.

It is like we don't think about roles. We are just dumb

JOM hasn’t been impressive. Thought he took away from Erasmus/MJ. Now both will probably come in sooner rather then later
