Re: Fisher

What would it take to get Ryan from West Coast. Will be 27 in Oct. Our window is in the next 3 to 4 years. West Coast needs a 3 to 4 year build.

Fisher & what pick could get it done and or other trades or delistings to free up cap space given we need to sign up TDK? Ryan is a prodigious talent at his best. A forward line of Curnow/Mckay & Ryan would be a handful to say the least.
I've been touting a Ryan trade all year, I'd not only throw in Fisher but offer next years second round pick too boot... no no never Gresham

But who would Gresham replace in our current best 22 given that Fisher is not in our 22 any longer?

Seems like it would have to be one of Cuningham, Martin, Owies or Motlop? And really we probably only fit one of Owies and Motlop in our best 22 anyway so Gresham would have to replace the one which makes it.

He’s better than Motlop at this stage but Motlop could overtake him within two years so is Gresham worth the price?

And do we say Gresham is depth to Cuningham and Martin? Seems expensive for depth.

Durdin as well, forward and midfield…

Gresham's disposal is actually pretty good but he can't kick a goal for shit. I just don't see what he adds to our list.

Ryan would be great 3rd tall. But with Martin and Cuningham do we need another injury prone player in our forward line.

Hollands (Elijah) has a lot of talent and could be an A grade Wingman But with Acres, Cottrell, Binns, Oliver and the Campo twins, we really don't have a need for him.

Ryan is 179cm.

Has a great leap on him but he is not a 3rd tall.

Ryan (181cm), Weightman, Elliott types are one of the types of forwards we need, high marking forwards that can go the ground ball as well. And the best of the lot, Toby Greene.

Wonder how Shane McAdam (medium forward like Ash Johnson) would have gone with us, had we taken our opportunity back in the day.

Not really, if he’s as injury prone as some seem to think, surely those issues would present throughout.

But sure we can look at more recent.

2022 he missed 4 games. This season just the one, thus far.

If that holds, he has missed 5 games across 2 seasons. Hardly an alarming number.
Now throw in his actual output....

Types of player we are missing. Don’t think we have anyone on our list with that sort of potential? Where can we get one?

I suspect the answer is poorly, considering he allegedly told all and sundry that he wasn't prepared to leave S.A.

He's hardly set the world on fire playing in his preferred destination.

Not sure why we would ever go after a player who has checked out of their club. They guy should be having a crack and uping his contract, not deflating it.

I'm no fan of Gresham and his disposal is a dog's breakfast.
Hey! Ease up on the breakfast bashing!

Wholeheartedly agree otherwise.

With both TDK and Pitto locked in you have to think the club has both of them in our best 22 indefinitely.

If Pittonet is playing he will be our #1 ruck. He is highly effective at it but cannot do anything else. That leaves TDK playing predominantly forward with backup ruck duties. A spot which I think he can own over time.

I see no future where TDK, SOS, McKay and Curnow all play in the same forward line. Too tall. Too slow. Not enough defensive pressure.

Silvagni is clearly the one getting squeezed out here. Club sees him as depth, which he’s better than, but he has no place in our best 22 if TDK plays 3rd tall.

We need another Martin/Cunningham type up forward. Quick, goal kicking, defensive pressure forward that can also take a mark. I don’t rate Gresham personally but he’s a better fit for the side we’re likely rolling out in 2024.

We’ve also got too many small fwds. I’d be getting rid of two of Fisher Owies Durdin & Motlop. Personally I only see room for one of them in our best side.

Have you not been watching the last month. Jack has been sensational! I’ll trust smarter minds than mine to make it work but, Jack stays. All I’m going to say is Charlie looks bloody good owning the forward line!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

TDK and JSOS have developed great chemistry with Pitto's unavailability, don't see any problems relegating Pitto to backup ruck and mainly VFL player until HO'K matures.
Mirkov now becomes surplus.

No issue with any of that. Smarter minds that mine will make it work. I just want Jack to be a part of it. And yes, Bambi was a Disney favourite as a child!

TDK is not going to be a successful forward, it is not a role he has shown very much to be honest.
If we want to maximise his capabilities he needs to play 70-80% ruck time.
Understand Pittonet was signed up but over the long run, he is very one dimensional in what he offers and his body consistently holding up is a real issue.

His form this year has been disastrous. This is from Champion Data's Daniel Hoyne from about a month back.....and on SEN the other night, Hoyney stated that his form has dropped away even more over the past month.

Seems a definite case of 'buyer beware'.....

Not a fan also but could it be that he’s checked out already OR dosent get along with the coach.

I’d rather pass and look elsewhere.

Could TDK become a ruck/backman.

I know the trend is for Rucks to play thete 2nd position as forwards, however TDK has done some nice things when dropping back the last few weeks.

We certainly lack another tall Blackman after Weiters. I'm not sold on Young.

Food for thought and continues to give us flexibility

How would people feel about getting Isaac Smith in for 1-2 years with a move into the coaching ranks in mind afterwards?

Story on the AFL website about him looking at his options end of year with an eye on coaching once his playing career is up.

Would be a fantastic mentor for Hollands and Binns as a similar wiry type with elite outside run and an upgrade on Cotters and as a wing rotation imo. Would also come with a lot of experience and IP from two of the best systems of the last decade in the Hawks and Cats.

Would have to be on a fairly low salary obviously given our cap sounds like its quite tight.

Now the whole Taryn Thomas thing has been made public, and IMO is not that bad, he sent an sms to an ex threatening to send around a video of her. but didnt actually send the video, just threatened to.. Sure, its probably not a nice thing to do but break ups get messy and I reckon TT has copped a raw deal on this. If we did our due diligence and he was fully committed would solve a lot of our issues ie pacy, half forward/mid who hits the scoreboard. I assume North are probably paying him well, but they might be happy to have him off their books and be prepared to pay a good chunk of his salary.

IMO would rather Taryn Thomas than Jade Gresham.

They have played 1 game and a quarter together.
We should be trying to keep Jack on the back of his last 3 games before injury but like any player it comes down to price imo. Before those 3 games he was borderline best 22, now I don’t know if Jack has turned it around or just strung a few brilliant games together but I wouldn’t be offering him anything that would make it not worth him looking around.

Will admit that I was happy for him to move on halfway through the season.

Have seen enough recently to think he could yet still be a star in the making. Once he starts converting those shots at goal he's generating for himself, watch out.
