i don't like it, not just because i don't think it's his best role, it's also a philosophical questionCould TDK become a ruck/backman.
I know the trend is for Rucks to play thete 2nd position as forwards, however TDK has done some nice things when dropping back the last few weeks.
We certainly lack another tall Blackman after Weiters. I'm not sold on Young.
Food for thought and continues to give us flexibility
I suppose when you go to the op shop you sometimes just have to take what's available...Gresham is the exact type of player we need.
Just not sure he's the actual player we should want.
The counter to that is it's not just about this off-season and 2024.I suppose when you go to the op shop you sometimes just have to take what's available...
Would definitely be a good mentor. Not sure he gets much playing time. Decent sub.How would people feel about getting Isaac Smith in for 1-2 years with a move into the coaching ranks in mind afterwards?
Story on the AFL website about him looking at his options end of year with an eye on coaching once his playing career is up.
Would be a fantastic mentor for Hollands and Binns as a similar wiry type with elite outside run and an upgrade on Cotters and as a wing rotation imo. Would also come with a lot of experience and IP from two of the best systems of the last decade in the Hawks and Cats.
Would have to be on a fairly low salary obviously given our cap sounds like its quite tight.
Sam Edmund on SEN this morning questioned the legitimacy or even the the level of strength of Carlton's interest in Gresham, although he does know St Kilda would be happy to facilitate a move. Similar with Carlton and Fisher.I suppose when you go to the op shop you sometimes just have to take what's available...
He turns 35 this year and we are tight on list spots and have more wingmen than we know what to do with. How would people feel about getting Isaac Smith in for 1-2 years with a move into the coaching ranks in mind afterwards?

Nothing wrong with having Pitto locked in for 4 years on the cheap as whatever we need him to be, best 22 or very capable back up. Good citizen. With both TDK and Pitto locked in you have to think the club has both of them in our best 22 indefinitely.
If Pittonet is playing he will be our #1 ruck. He is highly effective at it but cannot do anything else. That leaves TDK playing predominantly forward with backup ruck duties. A spot which I think he can own over time.
I see no future where TDK, SOS, McKay and Curnow all play in the same forward line. Too tall. Too slow. Not enough defensive pressure.
Silvagni is clearly the one getting squeezed out here. Club sees him as depth, which he’s better than, but he has no place in our best 22 if TDK plays 3rd tall.
We need another Martin/Cunningham type up forward. Quick, goal kicking, defensive pressure forward that can also take a mark. I don’t rate Gresham personally but he’s a better fit for the side we’re likely rolling out in 2024.
We’ve also got too many small fwds. I’d be getting rid of two of Fisher Owies Durdin & Motlop. Personally I only see room for one of them in our best side.

Smart list management, you give a guy like Pitto rolling one year deals and it's probably more cash and he ends up taking a 2 year dear elsewhere.Bang
Reckon Pitto got the 4 years but the rate would be pretty club friendly.
TDK will be the number 1 man from here on with Pitto filling whatever role needed.
It’s nice work from Austin.
TDK should be ready to go from here with Pitto as backup.
Meanwhile, it buys O’Keefe the 2 years he’ll need to develop and mature.
Pitto’s contract is a nice insurance policy for our ruck division …
TDK and JSOS have developed great chemistry with Pitto's unavailability, don't see any problems relegating Pitto to backup ruck and mainly VFL player until HO'K matures.
Mirkov now becomes surplus.
Effort alone does not win games of football and I'm 100% fine with the club not giving SOS a contract for 2024 unless its a bargin basement deal.
While his last full game was possibly the best of his career I've got a much longer memory than that.
Truth is Jack is a medium forward that doesn't consistently kick goals. 14 goals in 16 games this year. Take out the port game and he's given us 1 goal a fortnight. Never kicked more than 20 in a season. A very inaccurate shot for goal at 42%. Well below AFL average. Has served up 52 clangers this year too. Consistent poor user of the ball.
Just like we turfed Stephen for being a poor list manager, Jack is about to get the same treatment for being a below average footballer.
Expect to get crucified for this post but I love that the club is willing to make unpopular decisions in the pursuit of success.
Personally, I think JSOS is best 22. But even if he isn't, he'd be the first man in for any of Pitto, TDK, Harry, Charlie, and probably Martin. That's close to a quarter of the side. With both TDK and Pitto locked in you have to think the club has both of them in our best 22 indefinitely.

Op shops are where the classics/vintage bargain gems are found, finding the right fit(Gresham or whoever) is the tricky part.I suppose when you go to the op shop you sometimes just have to take what's available...
Well I figure he'd finish up right as the Campo boys come in and can move straight into working as a development coach. He turns 35 this year and we are tight on list spots and have more wingmen than we know what to do with.
He’s a depth option but he’s good enough to be on a finals worthy team’s list. No doubt about that. Would love to see him stay on for another year but nothing more than that. Hasn’t truly shown he’s worth a multi year deal.Effort alone does not win games of football and I'm 100% fine with the club not giving SOS a contract for 2024 unless its a bargin basement deal.

Tanner Bruhn went for pick 18. Similar type of situation I would think. So we will need to stump up part of our first. Suns will be more interested in points than a low pick (or a pick next year). If we're interested in Sam Flanders, what would he be worth, and how would we get him? Or is GC in a situation where they still have to cut back list numbers?
