Yeah the weagles are asking for overs (which they should ) but would they be interested in 3 and all our teen picks for 1 and their second rounder.

I can’t imagine 3 comes into a trade scenario for them and nor should it.

What's your thoughts on taking some of the VFL talent spoken about such as Mannagh (forgive my spelling) in terms of our list balance. If we.take 3 first round picks be that 2,3 and 15 or some other combination would.you consider taking an offer for a late first round pick for a first next year and target a mature VFL player or would you just take the late firsts this year. Assuming we are taking 4 or 5 players

If someone offers us a future first for one of the mid/late first rounders I think it would be beneficial to take it,
Especially if the players we want are still going to be available out our other picks. Spreading out talent across multiple seasons makes so much sense. History suggests that clubs are willing to overpay for picks in the teens when live trading too.

In saying that, I think we’ll have a few rookie list spots still available come the end of the National draft. Depending on who is available in the rookie draft. I think it would be wise from a list balance perspective to take a few mature agers. We’ve already added Toby Pink, but I’d be very happy if we added any of Shaun Mannagh, Tyler Sellers, Ethan Phillips and maybe half a dozen others. All of them have upside and have the potential to be 150+ game players if they have an impact from the get go. I’d much prefer to go down that route rather than listing re-listing known D graders like Howe, Turner or Bonar.

l think if we are going into the draft to get 4 players then by all means if a club wants 1 of our teens picks for their F1st then we should take it . After our picks 2,3 and up to about 8-10 most of the top players would have been picked and we might just have a spare pick to trade...

Yeah yeah, it does count on a board but in terms of talent pool available it makes no difference.
If we bid on Walter at #2 does that mean that who we had in mind at #2 has changed? No.
For GC, Doggies and Haw, the draft order means more to them because it's about pick matching and points but for us, it's available talent.
But if you're looking at pick 15 then you need to look at pick 19+ in your mock draft. You're not getting Windsor with pick 15.

For sure. It looks like the only chance of this happening would be for us to swap 2 late first rounders with GWS (#7) or Geelong (#8) so we can select O’Sullivan or Caddy. Although hopefully we’d get something else back as well (even if it’s like a future 2nd). I’m in two minds if it’s even worth trying to do this because there’s definitely some appeal to just keeping our current draft hand and getting 5 players in the top 25.
I feel that access to O'Sullivan or Caddy would definitely be worth giving up two of those picks as they are getting just a bit more speculative at that stage.

You're comparing Apples and Oranges.

An A grade midfield is the most important piece of the puzzle the way the game is played in the modern era.

You can have the best backs or forwards, but if you ain't smashing the Centre clearance or stoppages you're practically playing one man down.

Anyway, I have no problem with one of Dursma or Curtin but not both.

What? I thought you didn't rate Curtin and called him Shacke and didn't want him in the top 5? I can't keep up with who dislikes who anymore. DuckYeah hates Kerch. TAO doesn't want Dinkers. I don't know what to think, ah * it, let's go Duursma and Watson. Both Vic kids, they'll kick goals for us and be exciting to watch. We can get a McKercher in the top 5 next year like Finn O'Sullivan. Wouldn't be mad at any of the top 6 in the end.

Brady indicated earlier this week that we’ll still try to move up the draft board by packaging a few picks together. I got the impression that he was referring to this, as opposed to trying to get pick #1. As good as Harley is, trading for pick #1 is probably my least preferred option at this stage because it’s likely that we’ll be required to give up too much. Trading up for pick #7 or #8 would probably make the 4th pick an easier decision e.g. get Archer Reid after O’Sullivan or Schoenmaker after Caddy so we’re addressing KP holes at both ends of the ground.

Just off topic, I’m watching NM v COL 1993 season at Victoria park on youtube atm.

Especially for the oldies, it is a real fun game to rewatch. It’s got most of COL 90’s premiership team and most of our 96 team plus oldies like Larkin, German & Ross Smith.

Just to set the tone, Adrian McAdam kicked the first 3 goals of the first quarter through free kicks. * Spoiler * we absolutely smashed them.
The one and only time I went to a game at Vic Park. An eye opener. Luckily went with a pies supporter.

Enjoyed the game greatly but I said would never go back there.

Stand on cans so you don't get your feet wet;).

Windy Hill was the worst for me...l reckon if you dug under the lawn bowls area, that's where the spreadsheet is!!!

I’ve watched all the highlight reels of the guys that are projected to be in the top 10 of the draft.

They all bring something different. But we can’t mess this up. Because some in that bunch will be complacent and do the bare minimum like an Atley/MacMillian types that do enough to forge a 10 year career with nothing really to show for. Or the ones that will wanna return home or go to a bigger club.

2 & 3 needs to be invested in the guys that replicate Harry Sheezel’s attitude and character. A guy that had terrific first year but more importantly speaks glowingly about being at North with Wardlaw, loves training and getting the most out of himself.

You're the forgiving type though ...
Not really. He gives everything which is more than I can say about a few others on the list. I always thought when Brad McKenzie was drafted kicking amongst the group at the time improved so I'd keep him just with the hope that his desperation rubbed off on the rest of the team.

I was there with a Collingwood mate in the Collingwood members stand.
Just had to watch the game with smile.

Makes sense ... you've had a few followers over the years and so can speak with authority on that.

I was more referring to your quote in that book where you say that "brothers and sisters should be forgiven 77 times."

I had a mate shut me up one day. Took me to a Saints V North game in the flipping animal cage.
Deadset lived up to its name, half of them looked at me like a meal. They were not happy at all with 17/18 yo decked out in North swag standing there.

I went to Moorabbin once to watch us with my mate and his dad (both Saints). No idea where we were sitting but I remember listening to an absolute tirrade of racist abuse against an aborginal player at one point from all around me, directed to a Saints player. From their supporters. This was late 80's / 90ish - I was floored.
