Laid and berry paired with
Rankine
Rachelle
Soligo
Schoenberg

Maybe pedlar and berry paired with the others. Mix it up.
You do realise that it doesn't matter who starts in the centre square, they are by definition an inside midfielder (excluding the ruckman)...

You wouldn't be alone.

For this reason, there is no way Choco will coach the Crows.
I hope he doesnt. He'd be good for you guys IMO.

He'd call out people on and off field that have been too comfortable for too long. A bit like Walsh started to.

You're overrating our midfield. The laird, berry, keays combination is embarrassing. You don't need more than 2 inside mids in the centre at once. If nicks continues that garbage we won't get anywhere near finals
but you must admit you need at least two midfields but really three like brisbane, dogs, etc can muster in order to compete

so something like
1 experienced head, 1 enforcer, 1 zippitydoodar

starting: laird, berry, rankine

changeover: keays, pedlar, schoenberg

changeover2: sloane, soligo, rachele

If I glance at the crows fixture for 2023 game by game and make some realistic guesswork on outcomes I can see being about 50/50 win loss at the halfway point of the season. We will lose to some teams that we always lose to, and win a couple of unexpected games. I then think and hope that we improve our win/loss ratio into the second half of the season. I like to dream that we are competing for 9th place at the pointy end of the season and we would all be on board if we make it into the 8.
What I do know is that the Crows have become very watchable and we will all be watching and enjoying every game on its merit. There are really no certain wins and this will make it all the more enjoyable.
My worst case scenario is that we make the grand final against Port as we are just not ready. I would take a Grandy against any other team though.
And yes I am getting excited. Heck I’m even waiting to get Kayo for the practice matches ha ha.

With our Forward line having so much talent I think a real tangible measuring stick would be to see us climb up into the top half of teams in Point for.

Last year we were 14th. Seems like a big jump but I actually don't think it's impossible. Even scoring 1 extra goal per game last season would have pushed us up to 7th.

I think our team is at least 1 goal better with Rankine, + a full year of Rachele and confident FOG.

Imagine if Dawson was on the wing, averaged one goal a game there for Sydney when moved to the wing plus his delivery to our forwards.

Interesting post

Interestingly, if we did score only 1 extra goal/game and everything else stayed exactly the same as last year, our record would have ended up 10-12 with a 93+ percentage (jumping 6%).

Leapfrogging Hawthorn and having the same record as Port and the Suns minus %.

Just goes to show, scoreboard pressure matters! And now our front 6 is comprised of our Goal record holder, a pick 2, pick 3, pick 6 and pick 12. And maybe a pick 9 if Pedlar earns the 6th spot.

There's really no excuses not to score and score heavily in 2023

We need a gameplan than that plays to our strengths though
