It should have been addressed at the end of last year instead Austen did dumb s**t like extending Fisher 12 months before he had to through to 2025 and holding onto the pipe dream that Martin and Cunners would get their bodies right. Owies was also re-signed for two years at the end of last year and Motlop got his 2 year extension this year.
We are getting a lot of list cloggers piling up ..but we have very little draft capital left this year without dipping into next year --- fear we will end up like Nth under Scott good competitive side just treading water until the end comes ..

Just think it's no fun to turn up to work for them. Sport requires peak performance one part of that is enjoyment. Another is structure. Think both are down too much.
Think u finally just nailed what you’ve been trying to say for a while in a way so that everyone gets it, nice work & completely spot on 👍

* still have a rubbish midfield & forward line.
Let’s go all in at a shoot out & use centre clearance grunt to blow them out of the water. Dow & Crippa go to work & get it the the runners, runners lower eyes hit leading targets! Rinse and repeat.
**** the forwards inaccuracy, give them so many shots at goal it doesn’t matter.
We have a small chance to restore a tiny bit of faith by absolutely destroying them

Provided they get through todays 2s game unscathed it’s time to roll the dice on Martin, Marchbank and Cuningham. The latter pair can play half a game each swapping via the sub. It’s also time to put a line through players like Fisher and O’Brien who should both be banished to the reserves for the rest of the year.

Motlop needs a run in the 2s as he has been dreadful this year. Owies is probably not good enough either but should hold his spot as the best performed small forward this year and there is nobody else unless we want to try Fogarty or Honey again. A slightly more radical option would be to send Saad to half forward and pick Cowan down back.

Hewett can come back via the 2s and Dow can be given a start. In the likely event Sos misses with injury we’ll have no choice but to play Young as back up ruck until Pitto is available. I’d also send Gov forward as he is a real liability down back now with his inability to hold marks and kill the ball in marking contests.

Saad, Weitering, Kemp
Boyd, Marchbank, Docherty
Acres, Cripps, Cottrell
Martin, McKay, Walsh
McGovern, C Curnow, Owies
TDK, Cerra, Kennedy
Binns, Cincotta, Young, Dow
Cuningham (sub)

In: Martin, Cuningham, Marchbank, Binns
Out: Silvagni (injured), Motlop, O’Brien, Fisher (omitted)

Perfectly timed for a victory v the old enemy here guys...

We literally have zero answer to McKay and Curnow if they get service, our defence is way undersized. Just like we got tomahawked v Geelong.
Thats our problem. The service into the forward line has been dog shit all year except for 2 games, otherwise we would be a top 8 side or even better right now.

Our smalls are non existent so all their man has to do is sag off and help out with McKay and Curnow. Easy rebound once the ball hits the ground

Kennedy is injured. Doubt he plays.

Agree with BB , salient point, if Martin, Marchbank and Cuningham, are able to play out the 2s game in reasonable form, insert them into the team against the Bombers & Suns, outcome over the next two games before the break may well be the last gasp.
Will Vossy have the gumption & tenacity to do it?

The way I see it - at best with those 3, they get through injury free and impact the game. At worst, they cop injuries and impact our rotations.

By instead playing the likes of LOB and Fisher, at best the bruise free footy means we have 4 fit players on the bench to assist rotations. At worst you get counter productive output and misery from them.

This is similar logic to what should apply to team selection generally ... so much focus on position for position selections, which is such a foolish approach if those players who are prioritised based on position are as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Case in point - one player brought in last night to fill a particular position: 9 possies, 4 turnovers, 0 tackles. You could literally play Hudson O'Keefe and you'd likely end up no worse off.

I’m just waiting to see which BF poster goes first with “have a sneaky feeling we’re going to win this one”. There’s gotta be at least one person left…

We will win. Because we usually do when we aren’t supposed to against them. Also because 18 players can’t keep having bad games 13 games in a row (excluding west coast). And because it’s not effort where we are lacking - can’t fix game plan overnight but you can break bad habits for long enough to win one.

Effort was better last night, but still a ways off (and has previously been poor, so last night was more an exception). I think on-field we're virtually at rock-bottom (sadly, as a Club I don't think we are). From rock-bottom, the only option is start climbing up again. Least our defenders started going for and holding their marks as the game went on (Kemp good all night, Weiters and Gov as game progressed).

No team has an answer to McKay and Curnow when they get decent service. That’s what makes us so much more frustrating 😆
