Like the idea of keeping Paddy the next couple of weeks.

It’s Cez who will tip him out & it looks like that a couple of weeks away at best.
Injury management has been much more conservative this year - Dow is not first choice but will play until the others are 100pc.

I think it would be a big mistake to bring Harry back this year. I don't think it's a coincidence our form has turned around since he has been out. We've got a smaller forward line that provides intense pressure now and doesn't let teams run out of defence. We've stopped bombing it long. McKay's poor goal kicking was really deflating to the side. Happy to bring him back next year but please don't mess with our structures and system by bringing him in especially if he is missing match touch and fitness.

I have the easy changes we can make as:
McGov for Marchbank
Walsh for E. Curnow
Cerra for Dow
Boyd for Fisher

I believe Harry does come in when ready although I’m unsure as to who comes out.

Controversial: I don’t believe we’ll see JSOS or Kennedy again this season unless one of the talls or Martin get injured.

We literally won big games with him in the team before he got injured. His form reversal was immense and one of the drivers for the rest of the team. His tackling was waaay up and his outlet marking and field kicking awesome. He was the best CHF in the comp for those 2-3 weeks before injury

Agree on Kennedy.

I still feel like we’re a better team with Silvagni over Pittonett though.

But feel the MC would have a better idea of how much of an advantage Pitt is at CBs.

Just does next to SFA around the ground - might not need to tbh.

I really do not understand that argument that "our form turned around" when McKay got injured. Our form turned around well before then, and in fact our winning margins have reduced since he's been out:

With McKay
  • Defeat Suns by 59
  • Defeat Hawks by 60
  • Defeat Freo by 53

Without McKay
  • Defeat Port by 50
  • Defeat Eagles by 71 (training run, doesn't count)
  • Defeat Pies by 17
  • Defeat Saints by 19
  • Defeat Dees by 4

So apart from the Eagles, only the Port game had a large margin. And even that one you could argue that starting with McKay before losing him early caused a mismatch with Port's defensive setup that wouldn't have happened if we started without him.

Gonna be some devastating team selection news over the next couple weeks.

Up to 7 players to return: Walsh, Cerra, Harry, Gov, Kennedy, Boyd, JSOS

Potentially a pool of 10 players who will be in the gun for replacement: Ed (sub), Fisher, Dow, Pittonet, Marchbank, Hollands, Cottrell, Cincotta, Fog and Motlop/Owies

Looking at the team selection at the earlier stages of the streak where we had a healthier list to choose from, I'd say:
  • JSOS for Pitto
  • Boyd for Fisher
  • Harry for Motlop
  • Gov for Marchbank
  • Ed out with either Kennedy or Dow as sub
  • Walsh for Cottrell
  • Cerra for Hollands

He was the best chf for most of the year, everyone focuses in on the goal kicking but we need him for the get out kick and the secondary tall danger in the forward line.
Harry’s pressure is elite for a big man, he takes either Fogarty or Jesse’s spot every single day of the week

He was a big part of us belting teams by 10 goals… not to mention the chop out for Charlie

GTFO Cincotta has been unreal... no way he goes out.

100%agree. In terms of what he has delivered from day dot.

Of the 10 I named, id say he and Fog are the least likely to be dropped.

It’ll all come down to the team balance that Vossy wants.

Fisher and Marchbank will make way for Boyd and Gov and that’ll be the extent of the backline adjustments.

Ruck - Pitto out for JSOS unless Voss wants to play 2 main rucks.

Forwards - bringing in Harry means we will drop a small. Owies looks to be Voss’ preferred and regularly hits the scoreboard. Fog and Motlop will battle it out for a spot but I’d say Fog ticks more of Voss’ boxes.

Hollands, Cotters and Dow will all be very unlucky to miss.

The most positive thing we can take out is that we have established winning solutions in terms of team selection and structure to account for these key absences.

Can’t drop both Hollands and Cotters. Need at least one, with Acres and Doch sharing the wings.

After watching the replay of last night, Gov vs Marchbank is also interesting. Gov much better offensively, but I don’t see him getting a fingertip on Petracca’s shot on goal. Marchbank is far more desperate defensively and just as good in the air.

I think Gov is definitely in our best side, and Marchy is battling Fisher and Boyd for the 7th defensive spot.

Don’t think there’ll be May changes this week unless Voss wants to rest one or two with niggles.

Can’t see him risking bringing back a big name if we’ve still got a chance tge week after.

12.10 on the Gold Coast our blokes will be lucky to run out the game.

I'd look at the side that played the Pies.

Swap Pitto for Jack.
Cotters for Harry.
Hollands for Walsh.

So many unlucky players... particularly Kennedy and Boyd. Potentially Boyd could come in for Marchbank.

Kennedy could come in for Hewett if George loses form but the way he's going it's unlikely. Just hard to see how we can fit Kennedy, Hewett and Crippa into the same midfield... Dow has actually been important particularly in last quarters. Having him as sub would work better than George or Kennedy imo.

I love reading the debates over who will come in and who will be dropped.
I just want the best team in.
And I want 9 wins in a row. 9 is my favourite number.
A win and finals guaranteed.
We are getting great contribution from the whole team,. Which is great to watch.

Counter point - we would have beaten St Kilda by 50 points if Harry had been playing. And we would have converted far more of those 20 something Q1 inside 50s on Friday.

I also appreciate the various opinions and insights here, as well as those who post in good humour. Am missing a poster with their usual succinct posts that come from a place of real insight. Hope all is OK...

As much as I want JSOS in the team we can forget about him coming in for Pittonet
Vossy has stated a few times he prefers the 2 rucks - so we will see
As far as big H goes, he’s gotta come in
Imagine Charlie closer to goal one on one , he’d be impossible to stop..

The other key opposition defenders have gone to H who is on the flank taking the kick(Strong grab)from defence
(Keeping in mind we cant always transition from defence using run and handball)
We will be immeasurably better imho

Ask Charlie if he prefers H in or not…
