Counter point - we would have beaten St Kilda by 50 points if Harry had been playing. And we would have converted far more of those 20 something Q1 inside 50s on Friday.
And him and Charlie were going to maul the Jonas led Port Adelaide defence before Harry’s injury.
Harry comes back in as soon as he’s ready. Charlie needs the support. He’s done amazingly with H out, he’ll be ****ing flying with him in.
Charlie deep, Harry CHF - It’s a scary proposition for our opponents with the type of footy we are playing
We get the others back and there’s going to be a few that are unlucky to miss out.
What a great conundrum to have.

That 2015 AFL Draft was some draft for us (as were the trades for picks that got us Harry and Charlie - bold).

I really do not understand that argument that "our form turned around" when McKay got injured. Our form turned around well before then, and in fact our winning margins have reduced since he's been out:

With McKay
  • Defeat Suns by 59
  • Defeat Hawks by 60
  • Defeat Freo by 53

Without McKay
  • Defeat Port by 50
  • Defeat Eagles by 71 (training run, doesn't count)
  • Defeat Pies by 17
  • Defeat Saints by 19
  • Defeat Dees by 4

So apart from the Eagles, only the Port game had a large margin. And even that one you could argue that starting with McKay before losing him early caused a mismatch with Port's defensive setup that wouldn't have happened if we started without him.
Agreed H for ever more shall be named;

“Harry High-Forward”.

Just another thought- Not sure why we’ve never tried JSOS in Govs 3rd tall defensive role
Reckon he’d be a gun
Great disposable , reads the play better than most and strong hands…
If Gov was unavailable I mean and if Marchy wasn’t cutting it ??

They did use jsos in the 2's in that role for maybe one week. It's not a terrible idea.

Because he isn't as good at Gov in the role, JSOS has always had the issue that he doesn't quite have a position he excels at. However, I think he plays the 2nd ruck role as good as anyone in the comp and this needs to be his purpose in the team, if he isnt playing this then there is always players in front of him and he will get squeezed out.

I'd look at the side that played the Pies.

Swap Pitto for Jack.
Cotters for Harry.
Hollands for Walsh.

So many unlucky players... particularly Kennedy and Boyd. Potentially Boyd could come in for Marchbank.

Kennedy could come in for Hewett if George loses form but the way he's going it's unlikely. Just hard to see how we can fit Kennedy, Hewett and Crippa into the same midfield... Dow has actually been important particularly in last quarters. Having him as sub would work better than George or Kennedy imo.
Can't drop 2/3 wingmen.

Kennedy battling Dow for the sub spot if he gets back to fitness.

McKay averaged 4 tackles a game in the three games before he got injured. He very very CLEARLY made a commitment to use his outstanding athleticism defensively. He won’t lessen our pressure, he will ADD to it. Add that to him providing Curnow a chop out and pressing up the ground when we need a mark. Stunning that anyone would contemplate that he will be anything but a huge asset. Can’t wait for him to be back.

plenty of times we've been in the role of chief interference and I recall we did our best to spoil parties - it helped us feel just a tiny bit relevant..........
And GC have pipped us before in a similar situation... back in '12

Bewildering anyone thinks H isn’t straight into the team when ready…he’s a flipping gun that changes the dynamic of the forward line and get out kicks down the line significantly

100% agree, our run started with H in the side...He also kicked 8 goals in these 3 games before getting injured, so Harry coming straight in (if fit enough) is a no brainer to alleviate some pressure off Charlie getting double/triple teamed.

We need another tall marking/goal kicking option, teams know Charlie is our #1 target and use him as a reference of where to go to defend this.

I too was one that thought we may be better off without Harry or not better off but survive without him and maybe strengthen another part of the ground. I think it's been proven last few weeks how much we need him or at least another bonafide marking target up forward. Maybe SOS could play the role?

I heard Joey Flogtana's commentary suggesting he wouldn't bring McKay straight back in. David King was pulling the biggest WTF face, Joey has no idea. Harry walks straight back into this side.

On return I think a role reversal would suit both Harry & Charlie. Harry does his best work out of the goalsquare. He's a great lead-up mark, but a Coleman Medallist level when played at full forward.

Charlie's versatiltiy would be amazing further up the ground and get him even more involved in the game. We've seen some of it on display lately given he's had to play both FF and CHF. His field kicking is absolutely sublime. As athletic as Kouta. And nobody will be able to go with him for 4 quarters. Could easily see him averaging 20 & 3 and tearing the finals series to shreds.

Why not mix it up and do both? Keep oppo defences unsettled.

I did say if Gov wasn’t available..
