An indictment on the group that Walsh was probably our best, given the time he’s been out. Weitering, Young and the midfield were so poor.

Lost opportunity with selections and replacing Doc at HB with a midfielder was the wrong move.

And sorry, but I just don’t see it with Honey and Fisher. Ineffective.

So few positives to take out of this game. Just so deflating.

Before everyone starts lamenting Doc and Gov being big losses - they weren’t 56 points worth in difference. If you want premierships, it’s a group effort and buy in to play in a particular way with particular effort every game. It’s about system and how a coach can tactically plan to pick apart different teams. We knew they would be quick. We knew they love to tear teams on rebound. We knew they can win the ball from stoppage. We did nothing different to counter that really at all. Also we suck so bad interstate, it’s so painful.

That is not just on the players tonight, that’s on Voss and his coaching group even more so. You cannot just play your way every time. But if we want 17, players like Plowman, Honey etc. need to simply come in and play their particular team role to the best of their ability. Sadly these foot soldiers aren’t those players.

Quite simply; less pride in game style and play your cards appropriately Vossy against different teams, and to Austin and co. - improve the bottom six of this group.
I agree but I’d also say Plow and Honey could’ve had absolute blinders and we still get beaten by near ten goals tonight. We need better but imo they were tiny issues tonight.

As it’s been mentioned, this sort of result has probably been coming and hopefully we can change things up.

Adelaide are all about momentum. Everyone knows this. We needed to come out and put the hurt on them early, but our midfield were half asleep and it cost us dearly. Arsy snap goal from Rankine and they were up and about.

Hard to find many positives in this one. It's not season ending though. And it has the potential to galvanise and ignite a bit of fire in the boys. We're 3-1-1 and finals is still the expectation.

Biggest area of concern remains the connection between mid and forward. Shallow entries, predictable choice of targets, rarely do we kick to advantage. We're just bombing it forward and hoping Mackay and Curnow can reel it in.

The ideal fix would be better kicks in the middle, but we don't have any of those waiting in the reserves. The next best option is pace, and we do have that. Dow should come in now. OK, he doesn't defend well. Guess what, nobody did tonight, so send the message to the incumbents - you've been ahead of Dow in your willingness to work both ways, but if you stop doing that, or can't win the ball as well, then you're no better than he is.

Backline....sheesh. They were under fire all night, so I'm prepared to cut them some slack for a few errors. That being said - Plowman is done. Make up an injury and put him on the inactive list before the mid season draft. More experienced than half our backline tonight, but made mistake after mistake. Make a decision on either Kemp or Cincotta and get some development into them. Can forgive a kid making dumb mistakes while learning, not a veteran with 145 games under his belt.

Up front - opposite issue to the backline. Shit supply and not enough of it. However we desperately need to find the high half forward who can push up and win the ball. It should have been Honey tonight after getting subbed in early. He's quick, strong, clean hands, long kick....and has no idea where to go. The draft is our friend here, gonna be able to pick up a kid who can slot straight in and own this role. Until then, ****ed if I know what we do. Give Dow an extended run here? Try Cincotta in the role? Just need to get creative and take a chance on something that hasn't been proven futile (Honey low production, Martin inconsistent and injury prone, Fisher unable to contest anything above waist height).

Also, TDK got pantsed. Knock $50k a year off his offer.

Anyone who was complaining about us not getting media coverage will be fulfilled this week.
Media blackout methinks
And thank God Will be in Ningaloo for Saints game. I don't think they have TV's there.:p

At least it's a great night for the usual suspects

Sad when they troll the club they support
Don’t be ridiculous. Supporters are now entitled to be critical. This team is simply not as good as it has been represented to be. We need to face up to that fact.
it lacks backbone, grunt and toughness.
‘Frankly I hope we finish low so we can start recruiting smart. Free of GWS refugees and soft private school boys that were favoured by SOS.
Look how quickly Adelaide have progressed. Mind you they have benefited from talented Sth Ozzies, like Dawson and Rankine, wanting to come home. But that’s hardly surprising coz SA is a top football state.
we should know coz we recruited a lot of talent from SA in the 80s and 90s.

That was one of those games you just don't worry about watching back.

After the abomination that was the first 10-15 minutes we were clearly the better side.

Adelaide are fluky team who run forward of the contest, have no injuries and everything went right for them tonight.

We will never cop umpiring like that in Melbourne so win enough games and we don't ever have to worry about that rubbish.

Our 2023 model is to attack from defense. Without Williams, McGovern and Docherty we are no chance. Can cover one, maybe two but not three. Tonight it meant Weitering couldn't peel off at all and the rest is history.

Adelaide are a cute little team but we won't have to worry about them when the whips are cracking. We got belted twice in 95.

Good night all.

"After the first 10-15 minutes we were clearly the better side?" No we weren't. We broke even with Adelaide for two terms. Winning the inside 50s and clearances doesn't really reflect what was happening in those two quarters. It was us trying to slow the game down and forcing it inside 50. Yes it worked that we won the ball and moved it forward but it was done under so much pressure that we had no chance to find players open and free to score. So we weren't the better team for two quarters.

Seems my preseason melancholy was well founded.

We are dreadful considering the talent.

Lucky to finish 8th this year.

This should be the beginning of a 3 year peak for us.

Narrator: it was not.
