The game at the moment is all about speed and transition to which we have none, would be close to worst in the league.

We are far too slow in the contest with Cripps, Hewett, Ed, Kennedy. Need to drop Ed and not sure we can continue to play both Kennedy & Hewett (even though both are best 22)

This pushing up the HF into midfield to overload the contest needs to stop, it leaves us outnumbered when the ball goes into attack.

Need to play Owies, Motlop and Durdin every week. We need that speed inside 50.

Need to bring Walsh back into the midfield mix along with Cerra and Cripps. That’s a nice blend. I think Dow should be brought in as he can bring something different and break from the centre. He atleast needs to be rewarded for his good form for selection integrity.

Fisher needs to be brought back in as we miss his clean ball usage, however his role so far this year needs to be changed. Hasn’t utilised him to the best of his abilities.

I think Doch needs to be returned to the backline, as we are missing his leadership down there and need him as another option rather than our current Saad or nothing approach. Martin when fit should also be tried, we are missing Zac Williams massively.

I have no idea what’s happened to our intercept game but it’s non existent, with Weiters, Young, McGov, Kemp who are all great intercept marks, I don’t understand how it’s not working.

Think we need to get Harry back inside 50 along with Charlie as a 2 prong approach. Both of them 1 out would be unstoppable. I think TDK should be brought back in to be the down the line option playing the current Harry role.

Don’t see why though? I mean effort was there and Voss acknowledged this at his post match presser.

Voss blamed poor execution for the loss so yelling/screaming/baking players for that is a bit of a waste and not appropriate imo. they are what they are. Baking won’t change that.
His baking would be around effort & application though surely, we have players who refuse to chase, tackle & pressure for a start and if they are also not following instructions or team rules as well then the frustration is gonna keep building.

Just watched First Crack’s analysis of the player’s reluctance to use the first best handball option to a running teammate rather than aimless kicking. So, we need someone with a hand-balling superpower. 🤔

Alrighty then … Dow, come on down 😝😁
It's past time to bring him back in, what is there to loose? George/Dutchie need a rest, our deficiencies have been identified by all and sundry, it's time to admit everything is on the table, it's a shame Jordan Russel isn't on the list anymore, he'd at least have a shot.....
as would Joseph, Boekhurst, Sentanta (wouldn't you love him), Rhys....

Last year, even in the back half, I was always comfortable with the brand of footy we were playing

At the moment, I am finding it hard which version will show up

Right now, the best statement we can make is the level of intent
Level of intent will ALWAYS be the best statement
Also means, "show up", "they've come to play", "they're switched on"
As Riewoldt and Lyon always say, intensity and intent trump gameplan and structures every day of the week

Glad to see someone else saw that.
The role I talked about a few times. We missed him last game, or at least that clean up role.
He wasnt there to win the ball much, but always there as a spare.
spare who couldnt tackle. at his best he is daring and zippy and gamebreaking. that makes up for his weaknesses as a tackler

hes been unpolished and not doing anything impressive tho. improve in his magic or decense or both. a positional change isnt enuf

nah. voss gets intensity at times but its not sustainable.

we cant play an inferior gameplan with inefficient structures and rely on giving 100% for as long as we can.

what if the other team with a more efficient gameplan also decides to try 100%?

That's a no from me. F3, what we paid for acres to anyone interested
Brother, sorry Mods, or sister, I love the discussion, I threw out Fisher's name because I don't see a place for him in the club, like with Liam previously. I am a notorious glass half full sort of bloke so I went into bat for someone who I don't believe has much of an AFL future..........

we seem to run hard, but to poor structures

against saints...wce even, we would flood back but leave them to chop us up around the hff

on the other end we barely ever utilize the hff or use set structures to create leads. its bomb bomb bomb

The same Riewoldt and Lyon that were the best home and away team but couldn’t win a flag? 😂😂😂

Personally, I was enjoying planning out the side without Newman being available, but now that he got off, he will play. I think the jobs that he has done on some players have largely been about team defence. Looking at our defenders and ranking them by pace, I go:

1. Saad
2. Cincotta
3. McGovern
4. Docherty
5. Kemp

Gap

6. Newman
7. Young
8. Weitering

From outside the team, Boyd would slot in under Cincotta and Plowman would slot in around the Docherty or Kemp area. I think Docherty and Kemp are pretty even to be honest. They just look different when running so it's hard to tell.

I was quite concerned by the way Cameron carved up Newman and the way Newman just packed it in.

I see a lot of our issues originating with ball movement out of defence. I'd love a big shake up. Saad can get sat on as we saw last week.

I'd put Walsh, Doc and Saad in a three way rotation between mid and two on the half backline.

They could get their bench rotation with Cincotta (but he'd never go into the midfield).

Having two of Saad, Doc and Walsh on the half back line brings real running power, foot skills, quick decision making, dare and overlap.

Really interested to see Saad have some small bursts in the midfield.

You can wait for things to turn but it may not/won't happen without change. This is by no means the significant change the group needs, that's with method and mentality. But this rotation could help stimulate this change.

Kemp Young McGovern
Cincotta Weitering Saad
Acres Docherty Cottrell*
Durdin Curnow Motlop
Silvagni McKay Owies*

Pittonet Cripps Walsh

Kennedy Cerra Hewett Newman

Hollands (sub)

Cripps Kennedy Cerra Hewett must be all rotated from off the bench, no more than 2 of the 4 on the ground at the same time to balance our overall leg speed out, should give them some more run in their legs the further the game goes…

Yeah hear what you’re saying but if I was Bont I wouldn’t give 2 *s about Cripps going forward and would just run my own race in this match up....

It would be Cripps going to him & not vice versa.
I’d put Hewett on him at stoppages then tell acres to follow him around post clearance.

I think form and confidence is a funny thing, wouldn't be surprised if we win this and start a block of playing better as a team (and get a few wins).
I not unaware of what the team has produced of late. Just wishful thinking that we can turn the corner.

Out: Honey and Ed
In: Kennedy (HFF), Dow
I can some up how we’re playing in a few simple words…

Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe s**t. 😆
