Pretty much just looked like we took out our only non role players (SPS and Murphy) and this is what we are left with. Ramsay can hold his head up, Kemp will get better but it’s hard to see any meaningful improvement in our AFL side coming from that group.

I'm going to write this very clearly for you, and anyone who reads this out of context: I was referring to the stoppage work, and only the stoppage work.

Do not reply, or you will get blocked.

I need your approval to respond?

I know exactly what you meant, but again it's incorrect. Senior coach sets the gameplan and structure for both , so with Barker gone, the club had ample time to change any aspect

Block away

This is their grand final... and can you blame them for being fired up?

We should be able to still account for them comfortably - "grand final" or not.

The game plan is atrocious and now that the players (vfl and afl by the looks) have finally seemingly lost all faith in it, the effort is starting to follow suit.

This game shows how much our football department needs a full reset and some type of mission statement on what they expect and how they wish to apply it and achieve it- because this VFL side is reflective of our system it might take a couple of seasons to implement but this is a damning result ..
I disagree. I think just remove this whole coaching group. Surgically remove them and also tell Russell, your job is fitness program only. Forget trying to put your hand into anything else. Luke Power is only guy close to any of our players that I have any faith in. Teague is lucky he got time to change his ways but he'd want to start right now, or he certainly has to go with all his assistants too. I'd remove everyone that appointed him too. Completely been exposed as flawed in thinking, how he was even appointed in first place by the people that gave him the head coach job.

Agree. Looked so promising when he debuted in seniors. Not sure what’s going on last couple of games
He's a third tall, and he needs to be playing loose or third man in; he's a much less footy savvy version of Josh Gibson. Right now, he's playing KPD alongside Williamson because all our KPD's are playing ones, Marchbank cannot get on the park, and the list managers thought delisting 2 KPD's without replacing them was a good idea.

When he's able to play that hard defensive role - with Plowman, Jones, Weitering - his deficiencies aren't going to be as obvious; he can just impose himself overhead or with a hard tackle, physical defensive effort, but he cannot be the main man or the fulcrum.

Making him the fulcrum results in him panicking, and him making terrible mistakes; because he plays backline, they all result in goals.

The three worst aspects of our game plan are the stoppage setups, the excessive attempts to overlap, and the excessive forward press. There's a lot of running, but not a lot of supporting team mates.

The first two issues pre-date Teague, and the third one is what happens when you build your gameplan off a forward press.

The review needs to get to the bottom of why this persists, and what Amos, Stanton and Barker have been doing. They were/are the guys doing more of the 1-on-1 coaching and video work in these areas.

The forwards have to suffer through all this, so it's harder to judge without going through all the game tape (by which I mean multiple angles, which we don't have access to).

No actually, especially when he doesn't coach the vfl side, or the senior side for that matter

You know as well as I do, the senior coach would set the gameplan for both sides
So you can blame who you like, and I agree about game plan, but Jim can’t have a crack at who he thinks is to blame??

And no one is allowed to blame Russell?!

Doesn’t seem right to me, A...

You need to do more these days, so you have the ability to do something for the team when other things aren't going well.

Needs to find that, or we need to move on.

Oh, I think there's a heap to work with as far as Parks is concerned. I think he could be akin to Nick Duigan if we work with him for a few years without killing his confidence by playing him as first or second KPD; a useful Plowman/Silvagni replacement should either get injured, or if he comes on really well a Brad Sheppard small/medium defender.

The key is, the coaches need to develop him to get there, and they're simply setting him up to fail if this sort of thing continues.

I just don't see room for him. We have Plowman, we have Williamson, we have Kemp, we have Marchbank. I'd rather we re-draft and develop, with an eye to elite footskills and athleticism.

I don't rate Williamson. He's never demonstrated a level of game feel/read that one needs to be capable of playing at the speeds he moves at AFL level. He's just not been capable of the split second decision making; perhaps, in another setup, it could get coached in, but I'm willing to let someone else work on it.

Kemp's a mid, and Marchbank is a preferred option but can't get on the park. Parks needs a while to sort himself out, but he has attributes - namely, the willingness and size to hurt people - on top of his football abilities that I want around.

Max Rooke was one of my favorites.

I only watched about 20 minutes of the third quarter, didn’t see Kemp, does anyone have his stats or did anyone watch more of the game, who can make comment on his game.

thank you.

7 kicks, 4 marks, 3 handballs and 3 tackles.
I think him missing nearly two years of playing footy means he still very rusty but I love what I seen so far in terms of his general movement, reading of play and decision making. Has he even had two weeks in a row of a game yet? I doubt it.
Very happy we split the draft pick into two to get Kemp and Philp in that draft. Shame both will not have had much footy after two seasons on our list but Kemp looks to me likely to be a gun and bargain for pick we got him. I think his career likely to be top four or five of his draft year. He playing key defense to start with but like Charlie Curnow when he first started it too early to tell if his best will be in midfield or somewhere else. Given our list needs, backline I am hoping is where his best football happens.

He's being hidden down back a bit. Weaved through traffic a couple times beautifully which made me sit up. He's a talent who's probably just being 'warmed up' still

Ramsay 28 possessions. How did he play? Surely must get a run soon.
Played very good. If Murphy played that game people would pick holes all through it but he was still easily our best imo. Cottrell had a crack, everyone else were horrible.
I know it’s not the popular thing to say but the selectors have been vindicated not picking Honey and LOB this week and Carroll will need a string together a fair few good games to get called up because he was invisible yesterday after a blinder last week. Kemp needs a lot of time imo. Probably played 3 games against men in his life so a fair way off atm.

LOB easily the most disappointing. I keep cutting him slack thinking his game will translate better at AFL level but I’m really not sure anymore. If it’s not dished up to him on a silver platter he is useless and the problem is in big games and finals that doesn’t happen.
