Someone please persuade me from picking up Matthew Kennedy. He's in my team but I know that it's stupid and I should bank the cash and pick up sharp. Please.
Im grabbing him as Ive got the trades

Good stepping stone. Is a 90 avg player and looks to be in at the coalface. When a good rook comes downgrade and upgrade tthe other rook

Worst case hes a good bench option come finals time

Stuff all cash generation and definitely have to trade Hopper and Mckenna.

30k in the bank and could use my boost.

Hopper, Mckenna and Hollands -> Drury leaves 956k for two 'keepers'. So I am shopping in the low 500s or mid 400s.

1) Doc & 438k or less (JJ or Atkins)

2) De Goey & JJ/Atkins

3) DCameron & JJ/Atkins'

4) Kennedy & Serong (3k bank), Gulden (50k), Merrett (45k), Sic (63k) or Doc (100k)

What are we thinking lads.

Do I take a punt on JJ, Atkins or Kennedy?

JJ's too pricey at $430k. A few weeks ago was the time.

I'd go Kennedy, I reckon he has the highest ceiling.

The 2nd pick all depends on if you want to trade next week.

If you hold $100k, can you 1 up/1 down next week?

Otherwise I like Zerrett.

Probably won't have the options to go 1 up, 1 down. Would just be Ashcroft, Wilmot and JVR would be ripe or close to and ideally like to keep the lions boys till the bye.

Something to think about

He is certainly cheap compared to his starting price but his scores this year aren't good at all

Better to find the money to trade in a better scoring and more reliable player. Can always give him another week his BE is 73 so there is every chance he drops in value unless he has a remarkable turn-around in scoring

Can’t make a decision. Can go Wilmot to Sharp, Hopper to Clarry but empties the bank on the eve of Byes.

Or can just cash in and downgrade.

Guess I can’t keep missing out on Clarry every week, but in a year where full promo looks to be impossible, that extra money would help get an extra rookie off the field down the track.

Here’s my s**t truck of a team. 67k in bank.

I personally think get Oliver.

Normally there are an array of midfield choices looking likely/capable of 115-120+ and that's where all the points are.

That's not the case at all this year and aside from Dawson (who can be selected in defense - and who you have anyway), it's really only Bontempelli and Oliver this year.

Unless there's a bonafide gun fallen premium - like Miller a couple of weeks after he returns - I reckon get the top liners in when you've only got a handful of spots to fill - especially when it's Oliver as he doesn't tend to ever get cheap, is a guaranteed uber premium every year, doesn't miss games and is a pretty reliable captain's choice. In other words, worth the money.

Also not sure it's impossible to go full premo as many have said, you've got 5 rookies left to upgrade (not counting Sheezel) and you still have a fair few you can cash in (Chandler, Ashcroft, Ginbey, Ryan, Wilmot and a handful of others in the near future). More rookies will come and assumin carnage doesn't eat all your trades, I reckon you'll still get to full premo - its is likely just to take an extra week or 2 from previous years.

Was the sub in Rounds 7 & 8 hence the low scores. Round 5 coming back from injury but nevertheless a poor score

Cheers. Think it’s the right move, all my opponents always have him and have given up on overall now concentrating on cashies. Trades are tight. Down to 12.

12 b4 or after this week's trades?

I think either way Oliver is probably the right move but if 12 before this week and still 5 upgrades to make that does alter the equation slightly as full premo looks harder and any LTI's may leave you carrying a rookie all the way through (making 'bargain' players a more attractive option than otherwise).

At least you have some of the more expensive rookies so you can do 1 down, 1 up for uogrades rather than 1.5-2 down/1up.

I gave up on overall about 5 minutes into Round 1 game 1

After this week. Most years I’m full Premo with 6-7 trades left for injury cover or luxuries. Might go down to the wire this year.

5 upgrades needed to that team plus one or two if you have the trades up your sleeve. I'm in a similar spot

I'll have 15 trades left after this week and I'm working on the 2 down 1 up theory considering the rooks are floundering.

That gives me 5 keepers with 15 trades.

No wriggle room left now. Will put Hopper on the bench and hope he's good to go asap

Of the 17 keepers I have now, started the year with 8, so I’ve used 24 trades to get 9 keepers. 12 trades left to get 5. What a shit show.

Hopper listed as 4-6 weeks on the injury report. Long time to hold him?!

Good. Full premo still possible. Get the best when you can. Clarry is worth it (started 700K and Bont averages 4 more and is 60K more expensive so it's not as though Oliver is overpriced for his scoring)

Is there any world where Hopper and Setterfield are a hold, or am I stuck in 2011 SC with a 20 trade limit mentality?

Are you two nuts? Hopper is out 4-6 weeks over the Bye. Parking 420k in the bench seems nuts. Only 100k to get a fallen premo or 180k to get someone like Serong.

Starting with Laird over Clarry has haunted me all year. Good to finally right that wrong.

You have fewer trades left than I do. Can you afford to trade him out? Either way our seasons were over a long time ago and whatever we do doesn't really matter

I considered my team a poor mans no rookie team before this round. Stocker D6/Ashcroft M8/Pickett F6.

These trades now puts me back one step on that front, however the additional bye round coverage, plus Humpas price rise (>50k this week alone), should see me able to rectify that during the byes.
