So what metrics are people using for their final upgrade targets.
(Putting this in for the debate on targets like Fyfe, Yeo etc for those low on trades; less than 12)

Is it which combination of theses
1. Total points
2. Season Avg
3. 3 Round or 5 Round Avg
4. Bye Round
5. Short term Fixture - for Rookies.
6. Long term Fixture - Ratings for non-Rookies.
7. Past Avg’s. (Could do better players)
8. Percentage ownership - POD’s
9. Injury History Vs
10. Recovering from Injuries.
11. DPP’s
12. Bench Coverage

I reckon the metrics list of decision making processes could be expanded beyond this for the analytical types here.

But I leave the big one til lucky last.
13. The eye test

Take a trip back in time 8 days and Wardlaw is looking like the best trade down/sideways Rookie for even an M8/M9 after his 85 vs Swans which is no easy task. So he passes the eye test here, reading the play and getting the right spots.

Fast fwd one week and he is off to Antartica, where everyone who waited has gone cold on him as he comes up against the Pies, who I hate to say it but are just really good this year at pressure and attacking/rebound footy, there is a few pressure moments Wardlaw didn’t handle the best. And the pace increase left him chasing ghosts.

The point is we are an obsessive and judgmental crew here who also have the dualism of analytical, Gambling mentality’s.

The final few upgrades for some may be bargain basement options as no other options can be taken.

Some may have been blessed with injury free seasons so far and have 16 plus trades and also have only two upgrades while others may have burnt through 2-4 injury trades only to get back a player they had in their starting side Round1.

Me I’m rushing towards the ‘NTC’ so I can sit back and chillax.

Metrics? No metrics here, here, there’s no metrics.

It’s whoever I can afford that isn’t a rookie.

I have zero chance of completing a team ....I'm just using trades now for injuries & hopefully upgrading at same time
Salem and Ridley are two cheap options to “finish” your backline, if you haven’t already gone down that dirty dirty road.

Yep, on my "dirty" list as well

Did you know that from the words Jordan Ridley, you can use the letters to form the word “ordinary”?
And from Christian Salem, you can make “charlatan”?

I have locked in Hollands to Ford.

Still uncertain on what else to do this week (Roberts to Briggs is an option). As is trading him to Wardlaw.

Yeah I'm 50/50 on the Roberts to Wardlaw trade.

On one hand, it swaps a dead rookie to one that should play every week + make a bit of cash, or even provide that last bit of extra bench cover.

On the other hand, it burns a trade and 50k, which could help upgrading the rest of the team

Hard to know with this one

At this stage have gone ridley and Briggs for mcvee and Ashcroft but idk, could keep mcvee and go roberts up to Briggs but it costs 100k and uses bank. Leaves this if I do these trades which I’m not really sold on

I'd try hard to keep Ashcroft if you feel you won't finish the team.

The lack of (or incorrect) breakevens for bye players is very annoying. Opinions on Johnson - worth using a boost and going to Ridley? He’s one of my only options but dont want to flick him prematurely

Well I’ve left this until now but with two forced trades in Darcy and Parker I think this may be the way to go. I’m overloaded with R14 and R15 players so this will set me up to hopefully get 18 on field in the back end with future trades

Darcy to Briggs
Parker to Rowell
Wilmot to Stewart

19 on field this week

Flipping Roberts to Ford to bank the tiniest amounts of cash. Was considering flipping Wilmot to guarantee the cash now, but with the Mitchell news I need the extra player to field 18 this week. Not the greatest 18 ever, but it seems like carnage is hitting everyone this week.

Have laid out my plans for the next few bye rounds to ensure I have enough cash and don't need Briggs' cash (with some conservative score estimates for rookies).

Essentially delaying the Humphrey upgrade until R16 and flipping Sheezel for my pick of the best Forwards and Defenders to ride for the season.

Have 19 premos for next round, so can also wait until R14 to pick which mid other than Clarry I want as one of my last two mids.

Also will consider flipping Ziebell in R14/R15 if his average form continues. Seriously considering flipping him to Macrae now, but think it is worth holding the flip in case carnage continues and I need to get a R15 player out of my team.

The quest for #1 continues.

Seamus going means I’m gonna trigger the mother of all triple trades for me, just doing the final calcs, might be a couple of k short.
