We don't pay players enough, so the difference in money is rarely going to shake someone loose. Any half reasonable mid is already on $650k+, so throwing $300k extra isn't gonna mean that much and is pretty easy to match.

I think Lemmens is a better defender, but I wouldn't take either.

At a minimum we know right now the club has chased Cox (1 year from end of his contract and suddenly signs new 6 year deal), Day, Redman and Oliver

That seems a recipie for disaster though. Seeing say they're a $700kpa player, offering say $1.2mpa for their services just seems a one-way ticket to buyers remorse.

Nah. The worst news by far is that we are considering Lemmens, which would be even worse if we traded him in.
This would completely reverse the competent recruitment attempts and successes we have had recently.
My confidence in AFC judgement would take a deep dive.
