This was the loophole that Brisbane found for Daniher wasn't it?

2/3 years at 800K (or more) get him to sign a two year extension for around 350/400K a year. Got Essendon band 1 and essentially was just a front ended contract but if they had offered 5 years at an average of 600K it would have been band 2/3

Re Daniher, and I thought it was already NOT allowed to be done (until after the initial contract ended) but they signed off on it anyway.

just make up the rules as you go and with the new Footy Ops a failed Kangas Exec I can’t see things becoming more equitable any time soon.

Being there GF day, seeing the army of Pies fans in the city and at the ground, the atmosphere, knowing you play 14+ games at The G in front of massive crowds, the history/tradition, after footy opportunities it’s actually hard to work out why more players don’t elect to go to the elite few big MLB clubs. Pies and Tiges in recent years and Blues and Dons if they consistently come good. Like how NBA vets play for minimum chips at end of career to win a ring. Very hard to compete with the inherent advantages unless we bring ex SA boys home. What are our competitive advantages? Perhaps being successful going forward??..but Burgess is one we could potentially leverage going forward (Oliver type situation and Lions have sold this aspect well), reuniting SA lads with families.
