Fisher for Cincotta to provide more line breaking runs and foot skills from half back. Our forward entry balls into the 50 was very poor against Sydney.

DJ, I wouldn't drop Cincotta for Fisher

Why on earth would you be dropping Pittonet?
I've covered this, a lot.

Don't care if Harry is down, play Jack, bring in run. Melbourne almost ran over the top of us with a similar setup to the 22 we put out last night, and now they're back towards full strength.

Let's move on from Mr Hitouts to Advantage and work to a genuine advantage instead. (TDK, midfield depth).

McGovern though has the more forward experience and craft and Kemp I feel would be more settled down back. Definitely think Kennedy comes in.

Kemp had one absolute howler but I thought other than that he was great. Some strong marking in the first quarter. His positioning is excellent.

I agree Mcgovern has the experience and he's the kind of player that gets stale in one role. It might bring out the best in him.

If we lose Martin it's massive. Losing an out of form McKay is not so bad. Silvagni in a final after missing over a month is better than a horribly out of form McKay.

I'm not writing Martin off, he was taken off due to protocol and came back on 100% fine. Free kick, you see head high contact in tackles all the time, what makes one a suspension and one just a free kick? At that pace it's easy to make mistakes. Still it's 2023 and if you make mistakes you get suspended.

Heres what i think, its finals and Maynard gets off and so does Martin. What happens, who knows.

There should be more argument for Dow. Our midfield looked slow from stoppage. But I think he's still on the outer. Still, he us a form mid who has had a month of hard form footy. Can't say that about Walsh, Cerra or Cripps.

Motlop is the clear replacement for Martin, Silvagni for McKay and Dow is the sub.

That works for us because Silvagni kind of replaces both, McKay and Martin and Motlop comes in and does his own thing

Then there is our ball movement, do we stay conservative and play safe, which is not what turned our season around or get back into playing aggressive? No one has really been brave enough to play ultra aggressive footy in finals so far.

My tip is Martin and McKay out. Motlop and Silvagni in.

Last week can't be our grand final. I hate that shit. Hate low standards. Want to know what losing a final is like? It's like our final round last year, feels like it was all a waste of time. Winning a final is nothing special, we are Carlton and we use to do it all the time. Geelong, Sydney etc do it most seasons. Winning a final means stuff all, good clubs deal in flags and we have as many of those as any, this is who we are, or at least use to be. Lose this one and the this season is nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. Win it and all of a sudden we are a genuine contender.

We have beaten 3 top 4 sides. Beating them in finals is a whole different kettle of fish. If we want to show the world we are a genuinely good side, this is what we have to do. If we want to show the world we are genuinely 5th we lose.

Defeated Melbourne by 4 points last time with our VFL midfield in. Can’t wait for them to see Walsh and Cerra together!
Cripps was fit against Dees and was close to bog. We are vulnerable on clearance differential. Swans are weak in that area and I think we were marginally ahead. Demons could dominate out of the centre. Kennedy, Dow, even Ecurnow-we need more grunt in the guts

2 week ban for Martin, what a joke!
Finals games have always been decided by important players missing, usually due to injury.

Now finals games can be decided due to rule trends and the AFL being shit scared about being sued due to concussion related illness down the track. Now finals can be influenced by suspension more than ever.

It's never been easier to be suspended in this game, a lot I agree with but some of it needs to be seen wit context.

Careless high contact, n damage done, only reason the player he hit spent time off were due to protocols due to what I mentioned above.

Would never have been looked at prior to last season, maybe a fine at the most.

We just have to keep winning.

I’ve got it on good authority that Jack Martin will play against Melbourne.
Heard he dropped a bottle of red wine around to Blakey’s house today.

This is all prefaced on players being fit.
It’s going to be a tough contested game.
I feel Charlie needs a chop out, otherwise Lever and May will double team him.. so JSOS comes in ( I keep going back to how well this worked in the Port game)
We need linebreakers and run so Hollands comes in.
Midfield contest will be crucial , so Dow or Bam Bam (who can also be a 3 rd fwd marking option) as sub.

IN - JSOS, Hollands, Dow/Kennedy sub
Out - Harry, Jack M
