There’s no world we are better off without McKay. Even with the yips he can stay outside 50 and hit up lead better than anyone. Not the time of year for him to be working through confidence issues though.

The concern is the double teaming that happens to Charlie when Harry isn’t there. Reduces Charlie to a “bring it to ground” threat.
Double team? GWS made a ring!

Not sure what I think here - Collingwood Carlton gf would be off the hook. But if we both make it, not sure my nerves can take it.

I haven’t read your board much but am interested in the unconventional idea that you might be better without McKay. As a Collingwood supporter, I’ve had decades of forwards who can’t kick straight. It’s soul destroying for the team. Also Curnow (perhaps like Gawn with Grundy) seems to relish being the sole power forward. Your second half season resurgence may support this. I feel like Martin is a bigger loss than McKay any day.
Forwards the quality of McKay only come along every few years makes little sense to me in trading him. Preference 1 would be a big per season working on his goal kicking technique and getting him over the yips. Preference 2 would be to play him solely between the arcs, much like when Richo became a dominant wing man at the back end of his career. A Carlton /Collingwood grand final would be off the charts, it'll happen again one day, fingers crossed for this year.

Dees big favourites - yet no Brayshaw or JVR...

I though we won last time we met - and without Guv, Cerra and Walsh?

All three are starting to find their best form.

Pity about H and JM (who'll cop a week, Christian graded it high impact as he knew they'll never downgrade it two levels).

w***er.

Prefer to be the underdogs.

Two forwards out, most likely Mots comes in.

The other forward option will be the most intriguing/vital

Note: Demons don't have the quantity/quality of Amartey, McLean, McDonald. They will more likely go with a smaller forward line

Jsos - Hasn't played since round 19, reinjured the knee against Suns VFL game, perhaps far from being fully confident hold up

Kennedy - Hasn't played since round 17, but by all reports his knee has recovered well and has had a decent block of training

Kemp - Still has a couple of brain fades, but is one our more aggressive defenders and his strength would be vital. But with Marchbank hitting some form 2nd half, is more defensively minded. Boyd would come in if we shifted him forward

Gov - Probably the most natural forward of the 4, but losing his speed out of the backline would be a concern. See Marchbank & Boyd if shifted forward

TDK - Would need to speed more time forward, but thought along with Pitto, they did a good job double teaming Gawn

So, if it was me, given the Demons will most likely run out with a smaller forward line up

Option 1 - Bring in Boyd and swing one of Gov or Kemp forward

Option 2 - Still bring in Boyd, shift one of Gov or Kemp forward, bring in Jsos of Kennedy and leave Mots as the sub

Right now, May will go to Charlie, the other tall/mid size forward needs to engage Lever

Some on the Dees board are suggesting May play forward....

i think we’ll be benching Charlie, Weiters, Crippa and Walsh late in this one, what do you guys think?
One. Week. At.
...
Expect a horribly close one.
Hope we have won by end of 1st q.:p
Wonder how long it takes to pace an inside circuit of G.

I think our 2 best additions are Boyd and Hollands, but it’s how best to accommodate Hollands.
It’s no coincidence that our 3 best players were our 3 best runners - Cotts, Acres and Walsh.

Pretty sure if JSOS is fit he will definitely play, none of these other options Kemp/Kennedy or McGovern have rarely played up forward for a significant period which does inspire much confidence that they could provide Charlie with the necessary support.

Nah. All media hype.
We love H. ( most of us) and find him essential for our structure. If he gests his mojo back for goals, that's a gigantic bonus

Martin is a huge loss. Massive. Hard to replace what he does every week.

Huge risk bringing in JSOS straight in to week 2 of finals having missed so much footy, however we don’t have a choice. Simply has to play.

Bring in SOS and Motlop and go with a mosquito-fleet crumbing Curnow, SOS, TDK. Majority of collingwood’s goals on Thursday night were from small/ medium forwards + midfielders, so it can be done.
Nothing surer than JSOS leaving it all out there

ridiculous odds....... that will change I am tipping but really, it means nothing. The line a bit more realistic IMO.

The team will have to dig deep next game, Harry and Jack Martin are huge losses, won't be easy to cover what they bring to the table. It will require a lift by everyone for us to prevail.

And make most of our opportunities!

Martin out has a huge impact. He's a beautiful kick for goal and remarkably strong for his size. Was a scoreboard factor on Friday night and took a couple important marks down back in the final quarter.

I know the Dees' forward line is trash, but this will be a huge win if we can get up without H and Martin (in particular).

Charlie has been playing a very selfless role in the last month of footy, and we'll need to lower our eyes a lot more to find our smaller targets.

Yes, but missing JM and Big H is a lesser evil than missing Cerra, Walsh, Big H and Guv?

And from their line up, they'll miss Melksham, JVR and Brayshaw.

Last time we met (12 August) - and won:
