NEW: Tom Howard, 19, North Melbourne VFL
Melican needs to stop killing black cats. It's incredibly psychopathic behaviour, and doesn't help with his footy.

We always name all the emergencies (if both teams are in the same city). As per the seniors preview, I think Roberts will play the full game, Sheldrick won't play at all to be sub, HHK (like Warner last week) will play a half and then make his way to the MCG in case of a late out (he'd slot into the sub role, Sheldrick plays). Maybe the same deal for McLean in case Ladhams or Amartey fall over in the warmup.

Curious as to how a North Melbourne VFL player is debuting in the Swans VFL team …. anyone know how that works?

He's joined us from NM.
Relocated to NSW and now affiliated with North Shore as his local club.

Only played the 5 games for NM last year, but did play with Hall-Kahan at the Sandy Dragons.

Mention of him from our VFL practice game v Brisbane;
New recruit Tom Howard impressed with some fearless tackle pressure up forward and two goals,

19yo 182cm 80kg flanker .

Warner, Sheldrick and Francis have been very good. Poor entries have made it hard for the fwds

down a goal at 1/4 time…Casey are much more experienced. Hugo and Magor have shown a bit. McAndrew is the dominant ruck.

Vickery and Rankin a bit loose

Where can you watch this?
AFL App or website, there's a "story" in the article feed that has links to all the games. Or go Matches > Fixtures > change AFL to VFL.

You'll have to put up with ads about Geelong's premiership triumph, triggering me every time.

Francis looks comfortable as a forward

Sheldrick (10), Warner and Shipley (9) have been good.

Need to tighten up defence and take our chances up forward (19 inside 50 to 9 our way).
Bombing doesn't work quite as well at VFL level. No disrespect to any of our forwards but Heeney/Papley/Buddy/Reid they are not, so they can't halve contests or crumb the ground balls from long bombs as well as our seniors can.

That said, Casey have a decent defence so they won't make hitting lead-up targets very easy...

I guess McLean is probably the only genuine contested mark down there so easy to shut down.

McAndrew has improved his tap ruck, obviously listening to Dean Cox
