Just managing to catch the last 10 before i get ready to go to the G. Seen about 5 dropped marks including a sitter 20 out to McLean and a whole bunch of handball to teammates standing still. Not sure much I am seeing is reflective of the way the seniors play.
We're untidy around the ball and it's costing us.

Most disappointing part is that no one's putting any pressure on the seniors based on this performance. That strong competition coming from underneath has been a key component of our success over the last two years. Not there so far, but only two games in, so hopefully that changes.

Warner Jr., Sheldrick and Francis the best for me, though not without some question marks.

Warner's run and attack really seemed to fade pretty much by the end of the first half.

I'd like to see Sheldrick get less of it and do more with it.

And Francis showed the right attributes but not sure he put them to use enough.

Bit of a meh day for McLean. Still pretty good, but where he's at (basically the 23rd man, only not in the best 22 because he's not Buddy), he should be a real force in these games. He usually is, but the little stuff ups of a few fundamentals today weren't good enough.

Also not sure I find it overly encouraging that Bartholomaeus and Shipley, two non-listed players, looked our most damaging around clearances...

Not having Clarke, Taylor, Bell, Stephens, Wicks, Ronke at the level certainly doesn't help the midfield. I think we'll look better once we get a couple of players back from injury (Clarke, Wicks, Konstanty etc, not to mention the flow on effects of having Fox back in seniors), and have games where we're not having to hold our next best mid over as sub. We got touched up by Casey last year too.

Sheldrick has done more than enough to be promoted. Warner jnr disappointed in the second half. There just has been no runners for Angus to give off to. The team lacks system.

Harry and Rowbottom need good games today to keep their spots.

shipley was good … Bartho is a ball butcher.

Cunningham I agree with, but I don't think Rowbottom's place in the team is under any threat.

Shipley kicked 1 out on the full with a 20m kick , that's not good , my old mate Haley tried hard with limited opportunities , 3 goals is good , should've been 5
Haley seemed a livewire too. Could've given himself a hernia he fist-pumped his own goal so hard. Good on him

Was a presence defensively but did not get enough of it or use it well enough.

His problem will be finding a viable alternative role as his midfield minutes go down to accommodate more skilled players like Gulden.

Haleys last coach was Rocket at Balwyn ( according to Darren Parkin) No spring chicken but I liked him buzzing about a forward line otherwise void of crumbers.
