VFL 2023 Swans Reserves

Oh I have seen plenty of worse 2s than this.

One of the oddities is the similarities between the AFL&VFL listed players.

The VFL listed guys, Shipley and Haley aside, offer little. They are all on the short side just like the players we draft. Surely there are some blokes over 190cm with some ability who wouldn’t mind being VFL listed.

If only we had Bradtke bounding around the forward line but instead we went for Magor (another light framed kid with neat enough skills but with an aversion to or inability to deal with body contact.).

But it seems we only draft project rucks or flankers.
I think the new VFL setup may be little more challenging for the Northern Clubs than the old setup. The Victorian clubs can tapped into a pool of players who live there. We need to take local league / former academy players that in many cases are a lower standard or fly the likes of Haley from Victoria to play for us.

Means we are exposed pretty badly when we get a few injuries.

We were beaten by a team I have barely heard of. For all I know Williamstown could be a front for cocaine smugglers. I am not sure it is a real area in Melbourne.
I presume you are stirring.Williamstown is one of the oldest football clubs in Victoria formed in 1864 with a very proud history in the VFA.Our own Barry Round played there after retiring from the Swans and I think captain coached a team in the old VFA to a flag.If you want to see a picturesque ground I recommend a visit with ocean views from most spots around the ground.

It was so ignorant , if your going to make comments on the comp , get to know it ,Can't wait for him to get into the Borough !

That's why the Suns and Lions are on top of the VFL

Not sure if sarcasm or helping my point (which you did)…

Lions have 3 players on their injury list, Suns have 5 on their injury list.
Not sure many are KPP.

We have almost all our key position players out 😂
Our depth obviously not good enough on top of that

I wasn't being sarcastic mate , just stating that they are . Sorry if you took it the wrong way . Just find the whole set up curious this year from coach to captain.
Even the player i know in Harley at 28 what's the point and then he plays for Balwyn when he wants . Couldd've been anything if he pulled his head in a few years ago . If your topping up i'd rather see a young NSW boy

Oh Geebers… it will be hard for me to not do my block and I am famously calm and tolerant. :D:D

I will take a two half full glasses into the match.

  • I will be supporting each of the Bloods kids and looking for every green shoot I can see.
  • I will want a Borough win.

Can’t see the value in Collis as captain. If it has to be a VFL player might as well make it Shipley.

McAndrew's tap work potential has me toey. Rankin's looked class. Edwards reads the ball well. Howard & Geddes have some mongrel. Not much else to like today. Wicks & Sheldrick's endeavour is without question.
Ditto re McAndrew. Some beautiful palming.Edwards starting to show his potential too.

Think you’re being a bit harsh.

Melican was, at one time, a key part of a pretty effective back 6.

He’s no champion, but when fit, he’s competent

He just lacks smarts and requires an inordinate amount of direction.

I watched him make Naughton look like John Coleman.

If he plays Lloyd will be the teacher on yard duty during little lunch.

That is a side with a fair proportion of AFL listed players.

If we’re once again not competitive, alarm bells must start to ring.

Once the sub comes out of the side, there will be more top-up players in the side than AFL Listed players.

For context during the last 6 weeks of the VFL season last year when we made the finals, we had 4 or 5 top-ups playing. There isn't the experience in the VFL side that there was last year or even the availability of the same amount of AFL Listed players.

EG against Frankston last week North had 18 AFL listed players
