If we aren't paying Gunston for 2024, we can allocate that money to a player we give a contract extension to. Alternatively, we can bank the cap space and roll over up to 5% of the cap to following years. Pretty simple really.

Whether its a good idea to trade out key forward depth is separate to how freeing up 500 grand could be useful.

On the face of it giving up a future 2 looks like a bit much for me. But given how late in the period this has come up, might be the price of doing business.

If we end up wanting to just draft Levi + academy players we won't miss the future 2 that much.
