My Left Foote

By not bidding on GC players they get Walter at pick 4 instead of 2 and Reid at pick 9 instead of 5 which works out to be the points equivalent of an additional pick 20.

I know the Bulldogs have 3 picks on the table but I assume they might be requesting a lesser pick coming back their way.

I think it's competitive.

But yes, there is a touch of wishful thinking involved.
I would be bidding on Walter and Read before we make our own pick with 2.

If they were in the open draft there would absolutely be people on here saying to draft them at 2 & 3 (other than the fact that Walter would likely go pick 1).

I get the impression that the media and some BF members are of the opinion that North should be the one pushing for a trade with WC to secure Reid rather than the other way around. Given that WC have a massive rebuild ahead of them, I think the onus is on them to bring in additional first round draft picks to accelerate their rebuild. Reid might be good, but it is doubtful he'll make a massive difference on his own. I think we will be fine no matter how it pans out because of our strong draft hand. I'd rather we wait for WC to come to us so that we can do a deal with which we believe we can improve our draft outcome. We should have the upper hand in those negotiations.

Our list managers have a good relationship. They're already talking and they'll figure out a deal that meets all needs if there is one available.

I don't think that it will be hostile.

Funny thinking...they have #1 pick for the right to the best talent in the land and we should wait to for them to come to us?

If we targeted 6 and 7 instead of 5 (which requires more picks) we might be a chance, not sure if using picks ‘something’ like this could work.

GWS P6 > 14, 60 (Haynes + Salary)
GEE P7 & F2nd > 19, F19, F20

NM P2, 3, 6, 7

Could end up with McKercher, Watson, O’Sullivan, Caddy.
I think GWS will do something with Haynes if you want him for a 2 or 3 year contract.
15 , Haynes for 2024pick20,2024r3 would be my offer. GWS pays $200k.

I get their point. If WC are talking about multiple first rounders being important in a rebuild, then they would be silly not to look at us. I’d rather keep the picks, we are in a similar position, so meeting halfway to start discussions is mature.
