Hello again Shinboners.

Anyone know where this Darling talk is coming from? We have an ex mod on our board who has North links and he says the Darling stuff isn't crap. No reason not to take it at face value.

I just don't see either side benefitting from it. He's an undersized tall forward. Larkey does need some help, sure, but Jack Darling?

Conversely he has his flaws but he's a useful and respected senior player, if a bit frustrating. The talk is salary dumping.

Does anyone of you actually want this?

Jack Darling - l've got the.

Anyone know if you are able to put a clause in oliver contract that failed drug test immediate dismissal/contract void?

That is the only way I could see how it would be worth it
And get the draft picks we've traded back as well?

Not hearing much on it. Was a rumour yesterday, one of our posters today seems keen it's got legs. Who knows really? More than anyone I'd wonder why Darling would be keen.

I can guarantee that none of us want this. It's silly season and rumours are going to be thrown around willy nilly. We have our Molotov cocktails at the ready for when something stupid happens, but I don't see this particular silly thing happening

I wish I possessed the level of optimism that some posters in here have, in thinking that there is actually a possibility that Oliver would select North over 16 other clubs. I mean seriously. There is no f*cking way that he is selecting North.

That aside, this isn't our Lachie Neale moment. Lachie Neale is/was the ultimate professional. Clayton Oliver is the opposite.

We are in such an important period for our football club. The culture/standards/work ethic pieces are so critical to us getting out of this rut.

I'll say it again, we do not have the stability to handle a player like Oliver, yet.

Darling is old, goes missing in big games and an anti-vaxxer. More red flags than Oliver in my view. Its a no from me.
Darling averages 11.9 disposals in H & A vs 10.9 in finals.

2.8 tackles in H & A vs 3.5 in finals

1.8 goals per H & A vs 2.0 in finals.

Overall, the record is pretty similar - but he dropped a mark in a grand final so everyone thinks he goes missing.

FWIW, I don't want Darling, simply because he'll be 32 years old next year, and I don't see the point of bringing older players in unless they have exceptional onfield leadership, which is one thing this guy has never been known for.

A salary dump usually involves another concession. Our assumption is that it involves a swap of picks 1 and 2 with maybe some later picks involved. That's where it all gets enticing.

Nice of Ralphy to announce his bi polar diagnosis via the herald sun. 3 articles with a different take on the same topic in 24 hours tells us what many had suspected for years.
Bi Polar is a ****ed thing to deal with for some people. if he's self medicating cos he has issues with it then he's easier to "fix" than someone who is off the rails and no one knows why. Even if its the same thing, the diagnosis gives someone a pathway forward.

North melbourne says * NO
l dont mind most of it however instead, offer pick #2 and 2024 #19, #20 and then, offer Picks#15 and 2023 #19 to GC for pick#5. This way we still have picks #3 and get#5 and get Oliver...

West Coast get #2 and #6
North keep #3, and get #5 plus Oliver
Dees get #1 and 2024 #19 and 2024 #20 plus they still have pick #15
Gold Coast get pick#15 and 2023 pick#19..for the points

If Melbourne are open to trading AND want the club to take over the salary of a bloke with red flags, it would be dumb to ask overs.

Which poster is that? :smirk look

Wrong..

For all his off field behavior he's one of the absolute best and most fanatical trainers in the AFL.

He would run rings around anyone at our football club from a fitness, preparation and recovery standpoint.

Part of his bust up and the rumors around Adelaide are him wanting to hook up with Darren Burgess again.

He checked himself out of the hospital early with his foot so he could go on a 10km run.

This is not some Harley Bennell situation.

This is more akin to Wayne Carey - notoriously one of the best trainers ever, that partied just as hard.
